Whoever came up with the Predator's camouflage must have suffered Ophthalmic migraines

If you have ever had these, you of which I speak.
If you have seen Predator, you know what I see dancing in my field of vision right now.
I haven't had an opthalmic migraine in at least 4 years. Must be from the added stress of this trip.
Sucks because it also feels like someone cranked up the lights. Almost like when I get dilated for an eye exam.
And on my last day in the office in China this trip.
It is so weird.
Doesn't cover my vision enough that I can't see. I would not have to pull over if I was driving. But it is a distraction.
Anyone here ever have this?
I'm not telling my doctor though. I was on beta blocker before. They suck I can't workout hard with that crap in my system. Prevents my heart rate from going above 120.

I'm right there with ya bud. Used to have them often, seem to be stress/fatigue related.

I typically present with one, lose my right side peripheral vision and sometimes into my direct vision for around 30-45 mins. After that, my vision comes back and around 30 mins later i'll start with a killer migraine headache. Typically if I can get some Advil migraine down during the time my vision is gone it'll knock it down and I wont have a headache. Been dealing with them for around 15 years. First time I had one, was driving down 95 around 11pm and couldn't read a single road sign, freaked me out.

Must have to do with the area of the brain. Mine are always right side, visible in both eyes.
I've been lucky that it never progresses to a migraine headache. But I used to get a headache when I was on beta blockers and tried to push my heart rate above 120. Burning O2 faster than my heart could deliver. Got dizzy doing heavy dead lifts. All that stopped after I got off them.

Get them about every 3 to 5 weeks. They always progress into a full-on migraine. Debilitating. Sucktastic.

Some of my nieces and nephews on my wife's side get them bad.
One of my niece's has to get a CT every time she gets a migraine because she had had so many small strokes that they have to check to see if the migraine was another stroke.

Or maybe there are Predators here on Earth? Did you stop to consider that??!!
Well I wish those bastards would stop standing slightly to the right of me.
Humor will get you through times of ill health better than health will get you through times of ill humor.

Good luck managing the migraines, y'all! I can only imagine the extra burden - life's tough enough on a daily basis w/o 'em.

my wife gets these. She describes it as 'pixels' slowly covering her vision like when digital TV signal goes out on an OTA antenna

This may be related. Back in my martial arts days, I got a mild concussion just from falling back from a squat position to back on a foam pad during a falling class. I could feel the pain front and back inside my skull which I assume is the brain bounce. Had to stay out of contact exercises for two weeks.

Yes, it may very well be. Mine are caused by concussions/TBI.

I periodically get regular, full blown migraines, can't stand light or noise and the headache. Many mistake a headache for a migraine. A migraine is a vascular issue in the brain. The headache is a symptom of that. More commonly I get silent migraines. They're pretty regular.
A co-worker came to me one day asking if I ever see patterns in my vision. I said yes. After describing them to me, I told her she was suffering from silent migraines. That migraines are vascular and that was what was effecting her vision. Pain from headache were a symptom and not always or necessarily present. She didn't believe me until she looked it up.
Anyway, I describe what I see as bands of squiggly diagonal lines and/or what looks like water running down a sheet of glass. Sometimes, the patterns occlude my entire field of vision, sometimes it's just partial. I generally don't have a severe headache, but often a mild one, like some sinus pressure. My sinuses seem to be a non-stop, year round problem anymore.:(
If I notice the patterns and hit it quick enough with Ibuprofen or Excedrin Migraine, I can shut it down.

I had them bad ( 1 x month) from age 9-20. The kind where you pray to die just to get relief. Dark quite room was the only way to suffer thru them. As I got older I could tell when one was coming on and hit the acetaminohen and take a 30 min nap before it got me. For the last 30 years they have not been as often (1 x 6 months) and I can derail them with Goodys powders most of the time. I still will get about 1 a year that catches me. Oddly enough, a hot shower gives some relief when in it. So a few times its 2 Goodys and a 30-45 min shower. Thank god for tankless water heater, lol

Excedrin does nothing for mine. Advil Migraine is the only thing I've found that will knock it out before the pain starts.

I normally don't preach the word of the essential oil fad that's going on these days, mostly snake oil IMO... BUT.... I will tell ya'll the ONLY thing that has knocked out my migraines once the pain kicked in was peppermint oil and one time keeping bags of ice on my neck. Had a coworker that had me put peppermint oil on my temples and keep the bottle under my nose to smell it last time I had one at work. Pain was gone within an hour. Crushed fresh peppermint leaves also help. Any of ya'll that have them should give peppermint a try, seriously.

I didn't know it was called that. I used to get one a year or so. Then one a month.

I had minor surgery last monday and have had four this week!

Ibuprofen knocks it down but I still feel exhausted for the rest of the day when they happen. Mine start to pixelated vision at the corners of my eye and that's when I know I better get to a dark quiet spot because it tunnels down until I can't see much but a lightshow. Not horrible pain, but like head is in vice.

Man, it sucks.

I think mine are often related to hydration. It is horribly exacerbated (or even started) by fluorescent lights and any kind of flicker, even that which most people don't see.

I like the Goodys orange or fruit blast. They come in the little foil packs now and I keep the stashed all over- home, work, truck, deer stand...
and with the new flavor powders, I can suck down two packs without need of something to drink. the caffeine in them make it get in you blood faster so they work faster

I actually had one this morning, but not too long ago I was thinking it had been a long time, like 6 months to a year. I've always wanted to make a video showing the effects. For me a jagged shape made of animated pulsating light, from what I can tell that is, can't really see it directly. Such a bizarre experience.

Usually accompanied by the beginning of a low intensity dull headache but the last couple have not included much if any pain.
