People here I enjoy talking to as we all, most anyway, have common sense and rational judgement.
Her name is Luna. I name the dogs and wife names the cats. I typically name them after some historical event/person or one of my hobbies. I've been watching a lot of space YouTube videos (space shuttle, Saturn V/ Apollo mission) so we name her Luna. I stretched it after the Lunar space module.
- Anyway - This may be a little long
Monday, left to go to work and got about a mile from my house. Came around a semi blind curve with a white pit in the middle of the road. No in my younger years (I'm 30) when I was a young bas**** I would kept driving. I pulled in to a drive way, the dog walked to the other side of the road. Luckly the car behind me stay stop as she knew what I was doing.
I got over to her and let her smell me for a bit. She was cool and I was cool. I got her back across the road and by my car. Start looking her over, she had skin issues, not fixed and possible cuts My wife is a storage manager of a large pet store chain. I call her because she knows alot of rescues, etc. She tells me to bring her up there and we will figure out something to do with her. I take her back to our house and try to feed her/ give her water in the garage. She is drinking, so I run up in the attaic to get the kennel. She decides she is done with water and wants to go exploring. She walks to the neighbors, sees me and come right back to me.
Girls at the store fall in love with her. On the way she falls asleep. I get home and take a shower, it's noon by the point so I decided I'll work from home. Wife informs me state law is we have to report the dog to animal control as missing. Which I do. Polite lady answers and I give my 2 cents on the type of owner(s) of this dog and what I really think about them. She tells me someone called earlier about a pit missing. Well keep me up to date on the situation. In the mean time, wife takes her to a vet she works with to see if she is microchip..she is not.
I call the next day around 10am to get a update. She would call me later as the owner is there now. The director calls me and says the owner ask if anyone was interested in her and he didn't seem like he really didn't care about it. "well that's oblivious" I said. Director tells me he would call me Thrusday (2 days away) to give me final word.
Fast forward on Thrusday he calls and says that she was surrendered. I reply "well what time can we get her tomorrow?". Time was set and we got her. We are fostering her and have some interest but my parents may take her as shop dog for his new location. Regardless she will live like a Queen.
She is microchip and has her rabies shot. Getting her fixed this week.
In short I don't understand how POS people do this to animals. Really makes me want to just curb stomp them.
Just to night on the way to get food I saw a guy parked (rough looking guy) who had a pit tied to a tree in the back of the parking lot. As we pull by him I tell the wife to stop and say "Hey man, beautiful dog! Are you trying to get rid of her" "Thanks man, Naw man just straight chillin", he said. I said " Cool..alot of people sit out back like this trying to get rid of the animals or sell them. If she wa for sale I'll give you $300 for her" Really just seeing if he was being serious about not wanting to get rid of her "Naw man, she's my best friend" "Glad to hear it. she's beautiful, have a good night"
Sleeping on the way to my wife
Her face says to me "finally a good home"
At my wife's work when she was about to leave to take her to Animal control...almost like she knew. I image she did.
Today we picked her up and got her a bath.
At home
With our other dogs. Gray dog (Remington), White smaller dog (Sherman), Her (Luna)
