Back in July I met a guy in hickory for a gun deal said he had a Wilson combat recon tactical BNIB for sale. Got there knew the stock had been changed but everything has the Wilson combat stamp on it. Got it for a decent deal or what I thought. Fast forward to sunday while I was talking to a couple guys on here an was talking about trading it @Mr. Bggs points out the safety wasn't factory either. So I messaged Wilson combat to run the serial number said it takes a day or 2 to get back to me. So I start looking even closer an noticed some other parts not matching up. Thanks to a guy Mr bggs told me to ask about the rifle an @cubrock he pointed out the same things. Move forward to today Wilson combat tells me the lower was sold stripped back in 2018 (This is where I started to feel a little sick to my stomach). So as soon as I get home today I start field stripping the rifle an tearing it down. Find out the upper was a complete recon tactical 100 percent. So I move on to the lower an find a new trigger had been put in not sure of the type of bolt catch (maybe y'all can help) an a Magpul ambidextrous safety and a LWRC stock. Even though I was lied to, I still think I came out all right. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this? Here's the details that I know of so far about the build.

LWRC International's UCIW stock kit
Magpul ambidextrous safety
Larue tactical MBT 2 stage trigger
Spikes grip
Bolt catch ????
Mag release ????

Moral of the story I appreciate the help on here I got on here and not everything is always as bad as it seems an think I like the rifle more now then I did before. Taking it shooting tomorrow will give updates

There are a bunch of people that would lie their way through a situation like we had. You are not one of them and for that, you have my support and respect. I think it's a cool gun and i hope it shoots great for you. Maybe one day we can go out and ring some steel together. Glad to have met you and hope you like it here. The best bunch of guys on the internet.
 
I appreciate that and will be looking forward to it. Appreciate your help an cubrock too. Hard to find honest people anymore. All a man got is his word
 
Well, atleast it has the Wilson Barrel and BCG.

The LWRCI stock kit is nice, but a little out of place on the build.

The safety is a noveske safety with magpul levers likely, I love these and most of my gins have them.

The LaRue triggers are super nice.

Here's hoping it shoots well! It still sounds like a fine rifle for sure.

Thank you an how can you tell from just looking at the safety I'm not anywhere close to the level of knowledge some have on here
 
If somebody knows the mag catch and bolt release, you'll know everything that's in it.
 
If I look at a BST add and the seller says something like trigger group changed out to XYZ, I'm done or If I look at the picture and can see something has been changed out, I'm done. Hope it shoots good for you.

I should have caught it to start with but I didn't I probably wouldn't have picked it up if I knew it wasn't factory. Just don't know who's been in it or messed with what.
 
Heading out with my 2/3rd Wilson combat, rock river Lar-8 elite operator an Ruger precision 308. Gonna try 3 different kinds of rounds out of each. Just 100 yd on a bag of corn. Which rifle do y'all think will shoot the best group? Will post with results later

I will say the LAR-8 has the biggest disadvantage in glass. Haven't picked up a scope for it yet . The AR has the least magnification but at 100 yards that shouldn't really matter

I've never shot this one but I've shot them before. They are really nice Good shooting guns for the price
