My grandfather decided to downsize his collection because if health issues and he assigned the job to me. One gun in his collection is a 1964 Winchester 1200 "Riot" model that he got from the Charlotte police department during his tenure there.

My main question is does that change the value of the gun at all, or does it have the same value as any 1200. The gun has not so great exterior condition after sitting in a trunk for 20 years, but shoots just fine.

I think there's a small market for police guns - right seller, right buyer sort of thing.

Is there any record/provenance that this was a Charlotte PD issued shotgun?

If it were marked with some of Charlotte PD markings, might be worth something to right person.

Once sold a Greensboro PD surplus Beretta for some nice coin cause guy buying it was retired GPD and missed out on buying one back in day. Had the paperwork from the gun shop that they sent all their guns to in order to have proof since it didn’t have any other markings.
