This is why you always should confirm your target before shooting.

"Accidentally"... sure...

In all seriousness, that's sad to hear. Feel for the guy and his kids.

I worked with a guy years ago who was out on parole after serving time for shooting his wife. He says "it was an accident I swear - I was aiming for her mother"

I find this story incredible.
If he is to be believed someone was trying to open the door you throw it open and shoot whoever is standing there without even an attempt to identify who it was.

My wife is smarter... Just yesterday morning she had left for work at 0600 as usual but found that she had forgotten her work laptop on the kitchen island. She called me to say that she was coming back home to get the laptop. As she said, "just to let you know"..... Yep, she's smarter than the average bear, and nope, I didn't shoot her!!!

I agree it was not an "accident" and that it is an awful tragic event. My wife calls me when she is coming home early or what not. I also have a German shepherd that lets me know if it is her or someone else.

I'll withhold judgment at this point because I've seen people be up and moving for 10 minutes and not remember the past 10 minutes because they were not awake yet.

I'm also aware of the number of people that take medicine that effect the way they sleep(wake up).

What I do know is if it was an accident, he will torment himself for the rest of his life.

If it wasn't an accident, he shouldn't be allowed long to live without her in this life. . .

I hate it for the kids.

A very good friend of mine dropped the hammer on a live round in his .44 Mag, inside his mobile home, sending the round through the wall and into his wife's head. That is definitely over simplifying, but I don't know exactly how to describe it.

It did haunt him for the rest of his life. He died of a heart attack a few months ago, at work, at the age of 46.

Who does this kind of stuff? Who is so afraid that they shoot a noises? You can't use a flashlight or flip on the porch light?

Can we say moron in unison?

I agree, I can't fathom a reason why he shot before verifying his target.

Yeah, OK...

WTF were you thinking??? (The husband.) Sure I feel bad for the kids, but I can only have so much sympathy for the husband. And yeah. I'm kind of skeptical too.

It's slightly more believable than if she had been found with a bullet through her temple with powder burns around the entry wound. That's a little harder to explain.

...... Couldn't have looked out a window to see who it is or see the car in the driveway? Yelled out "who is it?"..... se easily preventable.
