Woods Beater Project

The old Honda, while a good almost truck, was taking a beating in the woods. So I started looking around for something a little better. I always liked the S10 ZR2’s, so the hunt began.

I picked this one up first, 99 model, rust bucket, good engine and transmission.





Then I picked up this one, it was my cousins, transmission went out, and he messed with it a bit, but gave up and parked it in woods behind his house. 2000 model, 140k miles, squirrel nest under the hood at no extra charge.

Brought it to the shop and cleaned it up a bit, and got the majority of the squirrel nest removed….some chewed wires here and there, but everything can swap over from the other one.

It cleaned up better than I thought!




So the plan is to swap over everything needed from the rust bucket to make one decent little woods runner. We’ll see how it goes!

It’s my brother’s….. he’s a hoe for the 2 door hoe’s…..engine on this one needs a rebuild. He’s talked about selling, and tried to get me to buy it, but just not my thing.

I’ve wanted a two door two wheel drive for well over a decade, like finding hens teeth now. Always liked them (and most other 2 door full-size SUVs).

As to the ZR2s, always liked the stance of those, especially the Blazer models.

Doesn’t look look like much, but quite a bit of progress today…

Cleaned out all the tree rat and regular rat nests…

They chewed some wires, so the harness from the rust bucket will be moved over.

Well, got as much as I could get done without the lift. Waiting on grandaddy to get a tractor out so I can move this one in…
