I'm looking for a new pair of work boots for bridge inspections and thought I'd ask the brain trust for suggestions.

Requirements:

Good tread - I'm on slippery hillsides frequently.
Waterproof
Composite toe preferred otherwise steel toe etc.

My feet are more on the narrow side.

What are your favorite work boots?

Redwing are very comfortable and durable.
+1
I also have narrow feet and they'll fit em for you if you go to a store. I have 2 pairs of the same steel toes and they've seen it all, one pair is just covered in tar, the other still looks pretty good after some cleaning and leather conditioner.

Rocky boots used to last me awhile. They made us have boots with steel shanks when climbing which was a terrible idea. Made your boots a pivot point wherever you were positioned. We always pulled the shanks out. Just a tip if you’re going to be climbing around on girders.

What ever you buy, look for some that’s made in the USA. The difference is night and day. I’ve worn Danner’s for years. Thought they were all made here…nope! I bought a pair that looked just like what I normally wore, Chinese, and went to pieces in six months! Same with Rocky’s! The US made ones have lasted years while the chicom’s come apart almost immediately. Buy once, cry once!

Yeah my previous pair of danners has lasted 8 years. I was annoyed that our work boot website didn’t carry them.

There are several....... Keens are fairly comfortable, Rocky, Timberland Pro. Keen shoes tend to run a little on the wide compared to other brands, at least thats my experience.

I’ve worn just about everything listed and they all have pros and cons.

But man I’m telling you. These meet all of your requirements and they’re the most comfortable and long wearing boot I’ve ever owned.

They make them in a shorter upper if you want that.

This is my second paid. First pair lasted 2 years in and out of some of the nastiest stuff on the planet at landfills.

I would wash them with dish soap and a scuz brush in the deep sink at work about once a week.

Those look really good. I was limited on selection due to my employer giving me money to use on lehigh’s website. I found a pair that I am happy with. Waterproof, good lug hiking sole, ansi alloy toe and ansi puncture resistant sole. I really hate drug addicts leaving needles around bridges. It gives me the heebie jeebies.

There’s definitely plenty of random crap all around.

timberland pro are decent.. cant complain.. but will be trying something else soon..
