Would I be an idiot trading an AR for an m1 carbine?

I've owned a boat load of M1 carbines over the years. Really fun and handy little shooters. My current one is a Quality Hardware that my sister in law gifted to me. I gave my younger son a mint Inland in an M2 birch stock that I got from the CMP. My older son will get the Quality Hardware carbine when I get tired of it.

Before this idiocy started I saw generic AR's selling for $300 at gun shops from individuals coming wanting quick cash. Once this idiocy is over ith will be the same thing all over. M1 Carbines arent going to $300.

I've been giving this some thought lately...
And sure, there are lots of other things I've done that might mean that I'm an idiot...
But would I be an idiot to trade one of my AR's for an M1 Carbine?

Whatcha think?

You would not be an idiot for doing so. I probably wouldn’t trade an AR for a current-production M1Carbine as there are lots of reports of the current-productions and non-GI variants having reliability issues. However, GI M1 Carbines are generally good provided they weren’t abused. They are also collectible, generally commanding between $900-1200 and even more depending on brand, condition, and configuration.
