@RR I found this laying in the road about 10 years ago. I do believe it is a section of a leaf spring from a semi truck-trailer. What do you think?

Hard to tell from the photo but if it's a chunk of leaf spring it should make a fine blade.
 
If you have a grinder you can spark test it. If it throws a good shower of sparks it should have a high carbon content and good for a blade.
 
It's a good chunk. Would make a nice Bowie.

2 or 3 probably. Assuming forging and not grinding it down.

I appreciate the offer but will step aside for others who are Interested. I have years worth of leaf springs in my scrap steel pile already.
