So my Dad visited over Easter weekend and gave this to me. Unfortunately all the info he has on it is that my Grandfather got it from a guy he knew that had fought in WW2.
I am hoping it was taken off a living SS soldier whose legs were crushed under a Sherman tank that then broke down on a mound of fire ants and a flock of hungry buzzards nearby.
My Mothers side is Jewish…

I asked my dad if he knew what was the saying on the blade. He didn’t and said google it. Told him I’m on enough lists and wasn’t googling it.

Perhaps those shown are rarer, but they are listed for big money.

The same website shows a bunch of identification information here:

I had zero idea that it could be worth a bunch of money

Helllll, it's yours now....your dagger....your story!!!!!

Just being a Boker brand means it was a quality product...

I'm no expert, but looks like a 1933 Early production SS dagger made by Boker. No idea how to tell real from fake. Prices I saw range from $3500-4200, but those were sold out, so no telling how old those prices are, or how much they've fluctuated up/down.

Looks like it was made in Munich

Wow. That looks original and its def worth money as plenty of mil collectors will pay up for. Ive never seen one of those in person or for sale, only read about them.

Nice knife.

I would bet against it being fake. My Grandfather passed when I was 6 (45 yrs ago) and must have given it to my dad before that time. I also don’t know why my Grandfathers friend would buy a fake nazi dagger and give it to my grandfather who was Jewish.

sorry I didn’t mention it. They are quite collectible, I don’t suggest cleaning or sharpening. Now you need a period correct luger and 1911.

I do recall seeing fakes all over in the late 1970’s, but the story about yours is compelling enough to warrant further investigation. Does it have a serial number?

Looks like the real deal to me. There are sites that can help you find some of the key ways to tell if it is real or fake.

yes, I know not to try and clean or improve its looks in any way. But it never hurts to tell someone that.
I don’t see any serial number but it almost looks like something on the top of the handle but I think it’s just patina that looks like 3222

No, these would be clearly stamped. I don’t know what it means, some are and some aren’t.

That appears to be an SS dagger. They are EXTREMELY hard to come by !!
The much more common SA dagger has a brown handle and the blade is engraved with ‘ all for Germany ‘ in German of course.
The price on the SS model does change quite often ( ALWAYS UP)!
It would definitely be worth the effort of getting it to a reputable collector or dealer. If you have issues with selling it due to the gruesome history it represents consider donating the money from its sale to a Jewish charity. That would be the ultimate groin kick to AH !!

I will see if I can find someone who deals in this kind of item. My moms side is Jewish and I spend many a high Holiday in temples throughout my life. I am more than happy to be the one giving AH the groin kick.
