WWI and WWII Trench Guns

now that is a Home Defense shotgun!

i was just talking to somebody about how nice it would be to have a good trench gun, and that the modern-ish ithaca is the only affordable option. that's a small fortune you have right there. bayonets alone are about worth a used glock each.

Wow, REALLY nice!

One of the most faked MilSurps, you really have to know what you're looking at. They bring big bucks!

Yep I spent a lot of time researching and figuring out the difference between real fakes before buying. I got pretty good at it quick, since thereā€™s 100 fakes for every real one lol. If not more!

What get me is I have seen some really nice shotguns on GB that someone had ruined by cutting down and trying to pass off as a trench gun.

Itā€™s sad to see. For every 1 original, thereā€™s 10 fakes. And most people havenā€™t done the research to recognize the signs of real vs fake and end up paying 1500+ for it thinking they got a real one for a good deal.

Not sure how I missed your original post, but awesome guns, well done getting each of them!

Just read this last week:

My good friend wrote that article. Talk to him atleast once a week.

Nice original Winchesters. My 97 trench is a norinco. Same gun but in metric. Now you need a Model 12. My M12 Crazy Lee riot and trench are my builds.

Nice! I would love a norinco, but prices have been creeping up on them and hard to justify. Would love to have a copy to shoot, without having to potentially harm these old girls. I do have a repro heat shield, but hard for me to chip up a perfectly good commercial 97 or 12.

My WWI and WWII Winchester 1897 trench guns. Both are real, with correct markings and original slings. WWI has a Winchester made 1917 bayonet, while the WWII one has a Remington made bayonet.

Nice! I have a couple that came out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee police department... they got them from Oak Ridge Military police. They were used to guard the Manhattan Project site during WW2.
