A hardware score like that will save you many trips to the big box store.

Geez, once I figure out what I'm keeping, I should have y'all come and clean out so much of this stuff I'll need gone. Thousands of joist hangers, thousands of pounds of nails, bolts, etc.
Ill even play music (my choice) while I root through your things

I’m both sad and happy that your not closer. I’ve really wanted to trample around that place with the pics you’ve posted. 😂

I won't go through this stuff for a while. Between working 50hrs for someone else, building a new home, cleaning the area to show it, keeping my current home in show-to-sell condition, and get the business back on its feet, it'll probably be a while.
I still have yet to open ~10 20' conex containers with locks. None of the others were locked. They're probably filled with rusted bolts and gears.

Fully understand, I look forward to more pics. 😁

I bet a bunch of us would be happy to come out to help, just for the thrill of being there to see what you find. I’d even bring beer or lemonade (or both), assuming you did it when I wasn’t at a show.

Went to one in Jamestown on Saturday, spent 15 bucks

Yesterday I hit another - not pictured is the 3' roll of thick copper sheet and apple earbuds for a buck

Good pick, man! That breaker bar is at least 50 years old, judging by the logo and lack of serial number. Craftsman Tool box probably close to 40 years old and it looks really clean for the age.

Breaker bar was 5 bucks
Craftsman box (silver) was 10 with that stuff included in it
Now, the red box I posted, everything in there I had to pay for...they were all a dollar a piece, including the tin full of drill bits - one buck.

I picked this bundle up at the ReStore in Matthews about a month back. A little time on the wire wheel and sand paper cleaned them up pretty good.

Also, I went through the same process you did regarding "rust-oration". Tried most all the chemical cleaners, Evaporust, WD40 rustoff, naval jelly yada yada...As far as a liquid rust remover, high acidic (cleaning) vinegar worked as good as most of them and is more cost effective. You just can't soak too long or you'll come back to a black soup...

Bottom line, a wire wheel on a bench grinder I've found to be most efficient. Just wear at least a dust mask or you'll blow black boogers for a week...

@HMP - is that small Craftsman handle for hex bits? That could be a pretty handy tool.

You have to be up well before dawn around here, the illegals are out cruising the yard sales before the sun comes up, often at a high rate of speed. They can scan and pan with the best of them, pick out something they want and blast on to the next one in 57.5 seconds.

I only seem to find absolute junk or either the ones that are trying to get retail or near it for anything I might want. Tried haggling and they were butt hurt over it.

Stopped going years ago and I never seem to have spare cash anymore. I need to come hang out with you lucky ones that always seem to attract the deal of the century.

Although the seller came down 25 bucks on the box, I initially still felt like I overpaid but anytime I can buy NOS in my interests I usually pick em...

Drove out to Greensboro this morning for one particular thing, hoping it still be there, and it was. Ended up getting a lot more
-went for a Corvette Racing diecast kit - it's the #3 and #4 C5 cars at 1:64 scale, along with matching hauler/truck and trailer. New in box, there's a few on ebay in the past month for 120+, I paid 40
Got a matchbox Viper for a buck
Free piece of wood (just piece of pine panel)
a 1:24 scale 250 Ferrari for 2 dollars
Craftsman ratchet and metric socket kit for 5
and, and this was the surprise, honestly - a Tein suspension EDFC kit new in box - this is an item that goes on [certain] Tein coilover kits which allowed the driver/user to change the dampening at each corner from the comfort of the cockpit/cabin. So instead of having to manually turn a damper knob, it's all digital with small motors on top to articulate the changes
So the controller + four motors, all new in box - TEN DOLLARS.

Ended up at 58 bucks, got a keychain, too, that I'll post a thread about because, well, its odd. I dont know what it's for and they (the kids of the deceased) didnt know what it was or where I even found it.

Sounds like a great pick! It's always good when you come across schtuff you weren't expecting or looking for.

Had a good time at the Carolina Pickers festival in Denton a few weeks back. Talked to a lot of good folks and was able to find a few things that had been on my list for a while.

Picked up the axe within 10 minutes of getting there. Couldn't see a maker on it, just took a gamble for the price. Found the Kelly crate piece later in the day.

After a few minutes on the wire wheel, turns out the axe is a Kelly!

The following weekend I took the MIL to an estate sale in Charlotte. I honestly wasn't expecting much but did OK.
