Why shouldn’t it be? Seems logical but I’m far from a shotgun know it all.Fortunately that folding latch shouldnt be lined up down the center. Nice guns for the money.

The lever that opens the gun should either be in the center or slightly to the right of center when shut. If the lever is left of center, then this is evidence of a worn action. Why shouldn’t it be? Seems logical but I’m far from a shotgun know it all.

That makes sense what you guys are saying. I hadn’t thought about the wear element. I guess my cheapo O/U gets a point back (not that I was scoring )As the locking mechanism wears, the lever slowly moves to the left. Thus, if a gun started with the lever in the center, the lever would keep going further left until it got ... awkward. (The sweeping motion of your thumb on the lever is a bit more natural when the lever is a little right of center.)
So most break action shotguns are built so that the lever starts right of center. As the mechanism wears, the lever moves towards center. And when it's left of center, it's a sign of significant wear. Most guns can be rebuilt, so a lever left of center is not the end of a gun - it's just a question of whether or not the gun is worth being rebuilt.
Sincerely,
Your Local Shotgun Knows-A-Lot-But-Not-All.
Great looking O/U but the name is just too much!
You’ve read your own name on here...right?

You lost me on that one. Yildiz doesn't roll off the tongue but looking it up I see it is Turkish for 'Star'. Turkey makes nice shotguns at a reasonable price.
It doesn’t quite roll like a booger...
