Your first car

No pics but a 1965 Mustang, you know what they look like. Dad picked it out, made a deal with his used car salesman friend. After driving it the summer right after I turned 16 we discovered a few things.

It was painted orange ( think Chevy engine orange ). Paint in the trunk was peeling showing red underneath. Paint under the hood was peeling showing white underneath.

Six cylinder car with 289 emblems on the fenders ( car sat a little high up front )

Switch for a convertible top on the dash, car was a hard top.

Horn would only blow when you pushed in the clutch.

Underneath the car you could see the seam where two cars had been put together to make one.

Dad took the car back and got a 1968 Impala for mom and I got her 1965 Plymouth Valiant. Toughest car I have ever seen. No idea how many times I put it in neutral, floored the gas pedal and then dropped it in drive.

.
Did your Valiant have the "push button" transmission?

You know.... you're all over this security thing but you're obviously forgetting that it's not required anywhere that you put real stuff in for security questions... you just have to be able to answer the question with the expected answer.
There's also the fact that you usually need the caps to match, so maybe I "first" had a forD with "D" for DrScaryGuy, and the actual model isn't going to be my answer.
Or maybe I'm just a huge fan of Andrew Dice Clay, so my answer will always be Fairlane.
Or maybe my first car was the starship DisasterArea because my online self is in an intergalactic rock band

for somebody so security minded... you're not thinking in a very secure manner.
I was actually all over a thing called sarcasm, as I find the best humour originates from (but doesn't always exactly match) real truths. I find it even more humourous that it was lost on you enough to result in that response AND that it spawned @RetiredUSNChief's "c*m burping gutter slut" follow-up as well as your own remark about cars tending to lead to those. Excellent! :)

Well...we are in a car thread, and people do drift cars.

Which, of course, is a segue into thread drift...something we're really good at here!

93 Subaru Impreza, somewhere there's film pics of trees snapped off from 10-0' agl where I launched it off a downhill right on a fire road one rainy autumn night, smoothest landing I've ever had.
Drove home the next day with a 4" hole in the radiator, love a suby. Light of day showed just how lucky we were, skinned a tree big enough to stop her cold.
Kept it a few more years and sold burning two quarts a day and wrinkled left side for enough to buy a Wrangler.

Don't have any picz close by..(packed up) I remember the mileage 1,359, a slightly used
71 Chevelle SS-454 4spd. gold with black stripes, the guy who bought it worked for a Chevy
dealer so he knew what options to order. ..everything... that car was my down fall..."always"
buying stuff for it, best friends dad had a machine shop / parts store, another friend worked
at Chevy dealer so he knew all the Chevy Hi-Pro part numbers. Wish I could of kept it had to
sale it bout 5 years ago to pay regular / medical bills, only had 43, 000 +miles. had a new
motor LS-7 all work done, N50-15's on centerlines under the fender not tubbed or anything
no rubs... nice car, was all over the road when they were wet.. acceleration wise, Moroso deep
pan. sure miss it though...

First car was a 79 IH Scout Traveler with the 345 and auto. Still had the factory rust in the rocker panels. Weekly trips to Fort Fisher (lived in Wilmington) didnā€™t help. Miss that car to this day.

First Wheels: 1973 RD 350! Got it in '79.

First set of 4 wheels: co-owned a 1968 Sedan de Ville. My buddy bought it from a guy he worked with, and I ponied up for the fuel lines and brake parts - it was a rust bucket that had been sitting. He never got a title and not only lost the bill of sale, he "misplaced" the key right before we took off! So we hot-wired it, hooked up a rattletrap trailer, and moved to Colorado with it anyway.

I helped plumb two new houses to have the money to afford a 1984 Chrysler Laser that I bought in 1990. It had over 100k on it and more bugs than you could shake a stick at. And the old man offered me his 85 dodge truck with a 318 for nothing or I could work to pay for a car. I was 16 and so dumbā€¦
holy crap - MY first car was a 84 turbo model. Black with gray/black interior.
Figured Id be the only one who knew these existed ha

As I mentioned, first car I had was the 84 Laser...but it was a brief affair. Had a small oil leak that I didnt tend to like I should have.
Welp, one day I didnt make it to school on time.

Anyways, a few days later dad forked out some money for a newer vehicle, I think it was a 1993 Mercury Capri - little red 2 seat convertible. It was a fantastic car. I beat the hell out of it, got great MPG, and had lots of fun in it. Sold it with just over 200k on it and still running well.
Pic to come

First car was a 1985 Toyota Celica Supra. Itā€™s in my tiny little profile pic, if you can see it. I still have it, along with a handful of others, and have become known around town as ā€œthe guy with all the Suprasā€ Iā€™m up into the 50ā€™s with how many cars Iā€™ve owned over the years, but my old ā€˜85 will always be one of my favorites!

Cheers

I finally stumbled across these pics.

1963 Corvair bought at a car show at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1992. Bad gear/trans had NO reverse so I had to be aware of where I parked. It got totalled from losing control on icy roads before I could save up to get the trans rebuilt. Oh the adventures of a 16 year old.

I was 15 in the picture.

What... you people put actual real answers in all those security questions? I make up BS answers to them all and write them down.

First wheels - 74 Honda 450
First car - 75 vw rabbit

1941 Ford opera Coupe. Paid $95 for it.
Had to replace the clutch, put 4 used tires on it and moonies.
Traded it for a 53 Pontiac Chieftain straight 8 that soon got an Oldsmobile V8.
The next one was a 54 Chevy convertible that was too slow so I put a 283 Chevy V8 in it.
Had to sell the Chevy because I was caught driving a NASCAR modified by my mom and I couldn't own a Chevy, Ford, or Pontiac because they were ā€œrace carsā€œ
So I bought a 56 Buick, stuffed a Wildcat 401 in it, and went drag racing. I held the NHRA B modified production record for about a week.
Then went sportycar racing with Datsuns, and Alfa Romeos.

Mine was a 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 which I paid $135 for around 1972. Looked a lot like this:

I ran it until it threw a rod one winter morning.

1960 VW bug.

36 HP, no gas gauge (you ran out, then turned a lever 90 degrees with your right foot which gave you one more gallon) and no synchro first.

I bought my second one for $500 in 1975. It looked a lot like this:

Still kicking myself in the butt for letting that one slip out of my hands! šŸ˜

Ha!

I agree. Most everyone who owned one like that ran it dry (at least once!)
My college roommate had a VW and he did that numerous times - like once a month..
he was book smart but as dumb as a rock when challenged by normal things.

whenever I used the car - the first thing I did was make sure the valve was in the right position.
once it stopped running about 100 yards down the road after I switched it because it was already running on the reserve tank.
I barely made it to the gas station and put $1.45 of gas in itā€¦all the money I had in my pocket.
