The wife had her routine health checkup yesterday. We left the office with an appointment for a routine EKG due to her pre-existing Mitral Valve Prolapse
issue. She's due for a colonoscopy, so they want to check her heart before scheduling that

She got a call from the doctors office this morning stating that they had made her the earliest possible appointment for a specialist
due to very low and very high results from her blood work.
She goes in on the 27th, and the doc's office told her not to be alarmed but the specialist is part of the cancer treatment center.

Just doing some online research, her numbers indicate possible Leukemia or Hodgkins Lymphoma. Our daughter is a Lab-tech, and we're waiting for her to get off of work to have her look at the lab results.

She feels fine, but has been a bit more tired lately than normal. We have been quite busy with indoor and outdoor chores since retirement, but she's typically a little energizer bunny.

Prayers appreciated.

Prayers up.
Before our son was diagnosed with Crohns disease, his first symptom from blood work was lymphocytic anemia. Google that and it will scare you. First thing it finds is leukemia. He was monitored for a year by his hematologist/oncologist. But there was never any sign of cancer. It resolved while beginning treatment for his early Crohns symptoms, though it was almost another year before the crohns diagnosis came.

Daughter just got home and looked over the lab results. She's not alarmed, and she would be if there was a need.
She's concerned, but says the next step at the cancer center will be to rule out, or in, the possibles.

I could simply be a matter of anemia. The wife is a very healthy eater, but she has eliminated certain otherwise healthy foods due
to ongoing bouts with diverticulitis.

When my son was 8 my wife took him to the clinic on Bolling Afb for a rash. They did some blood work, and told her to take him to the main hospital at Andrews; go to pediatric clinic by ay of a certain entrance. They called me at the Pentagon and told me to meet my wife there; didn't say why. We went into the clinic; a med tech took the boy to the side to play while they escorted us back to the doctor, who was waiting. After introducing herself, she handed us a medical book and said read the highlighted passage; she would be right back.

It described leukemia, and prognosis. When she came back in, she said based on his blood work, he had 6 to 8 weeks. A blood specialist was on his way down from Johns Hopkins to go over the labs and run some more tests on the samples but it would take 2 to 4 weeks for definitive results.

We were shattered; son seemed fine except for a rash. We didn't tell him yet; waiting to see what the specialist said. After a week of pure hell, they called and said the lab made a mistake; they categorized a normal type of cell as leukemia.

Our mistake; sorry.

I tell you this to say, don't buy trouble. Wait for the real results. Easy to say, but hard to do; know we are all praying.

You have my sincere sympathy. One very important thing for you to remember is Google is not a doctor. My dermatologist has that on posters in her rooms.
There is a reason it's called doom scrolling. You will never see anything about people with these symptoms who ended up with no problems. These people are the majority. You will only find stories about the 1% who ended up with the worst case scenario.
This is a situation where you are your own worst enemy. Put down the phone, shut that laptop and live the best life you can until your next appointment. Google only puts up results that attract clicks and advertising dollars. Quit borrowing trouble. Put on that positive attitude until you have something to worry about.

Definitely sending prayers up for you both, that's scary stuff. Hope all is clear

Well, she got yet another call from the doc's office this morning. They want her to come back for another blood test this morning.

I'm sure that this is confirm the numbers, but our daughter said that if she did the lab work and saw those numbers she'd automatically run it again (with the same sample) to confirm.

Lord let your hand of protection be upon @Snal~ wife 🙏

What a roller coaster!

We've been back an hour and a half from getting her second blood sample and the doc calls again!

He wants her to come back in again....today!

Lab techs in military hospitals, that are not civilians, do not have the same level of education and training as civilians. Otherwise the lab would be loaded with officers.
Before my wife became a teacher, she was a micro MLT. 5 year BS in laboratory science plus a 1 year internship.
When I was enlisted, I rarely ever saw a doctor. Only officers got to see doctors unless it was something urgent. Just an enlisted PA. What the military called a PA was nothing like what is a PA in a civilian world.

Second blood test was virtually the same. What was low is slightly lower, what was high is slightly higher.

Doc tried to reach the on-call hematologist to see if she should have any more tests before seeing the specialist on the 27th, but he got tired of waiting and just told us to leave and they'll call us if she needs to go back in.
Doc said she obviously has something going on in her bone marrow.

For now, she needs to be very cautious, and call the doc if she develops a cough, fever, unexplainable bruises, or any sign
of an infection.

They also cancelled her scheduled EKG and Colonoscopy.

What freak'n day!

Doc's office called again to let her know that they have indeed cancelled the EGK and Colonoscopy, and that they moved up the appointment with the specialist from the 27th to the 15th. This one is at the Cancer Treatment Center in Greenville rather than the
one here in Laurens.

Not 15 minutes later the Cancer Center called to see if she can come in tomorrow for labs at 12 and see the specialist at 1:30!

Better than having to wait. Prayers continue...
