Oh ye of little faithAnd there it will sit.
Oh, I have faith. I also remember history and am not surprised when it repeats.Oh ye of little faith
Figures, I just renewed my chp. 🙄
Although I agree with the cynicism generally, the grain of truth in the "we just need to elect Republicans" is that with a Mark Robinson or similar in the governor's mansion, this would actually happen. It is no longer 1990, 2000, or 2010. Permitless carry is now the bare minimum to even be considered as an electable Republican governor. This nation is replete with crappy RINO governors who have been forced to hold their noses and sign permitless carry into law to keep their jobs. Robinson would sign in a heartbeat. It might go to Scoopers desk but it will get the all too familiar veto stamp. Then we will hear how we just need to vote harder next time and give GRNC, GOA, NRA or whomever more money to help get republicans elected.
I’d still keep mine. It’ll still be a substitute for NICS, and give you reciprocity where allowed.Figures, I just renewed my chp. 🙄
And also be required when the Dems change it back if they get majoritiesI’d still keep mine. It’ll still be a substitute for NICS, and give you reciprocity where allowed.
This will go thru the House. If you want to be entertained for awhile, when the bill goes into committee and then to the floor, tune in and listen to the Dems whine and promise blood in the streets and blah blah blahIt might go to Scoopers desk but it will get the all too familiar veto stamp. It better go thru the House and Senate and land on Coopers desk which is where it will die from a veto that won’t be overridden because they need one single Democrat to cross the aisle. They won’t pass it in my opinion because the democrats will not break party lines despite it being a decent piece of Legislation. This will go thru the House. They don't need a Dem to vote for it. The requirement to override a veto is 60% of votes cast. They just need a Dem to be absent/not vote.It better go thru the House and Senate and land on Coopers desk which is where it will die from a veto that won’t be overridden because they need one single Democrat to cross the aisle. We hope they do this but we will seeThey don't need a Dem to vote for it. The requirement to override a veto is 60% of votes cast. They just need a Dem to be absent/not vote.
In prior years, they would start with the budget, then after that's passed, in the final days, they do everything else like gun laws. But you can see the strategy here:
- Pass everything that Cooper is going to veto, early in the session.
- Now put all the veto overrides on the calendar every single day.
- Keep the vetoes in your top drawer ready to pull out on a moment's notice.
- The first voting day a Dem is absent, start calling override votes on everything.
Given that Pooper locked the whole state down without the legal authority to do so, the Republicans should have been able to run a ham sandwich and win. That piece of garbage destroyed the lives of a lot of small business owners. It better go thru the House and Senate and land on Coopers desk which is where it will die from a veto that won’t be overridden because they need one single Democrat to cross the aisle. The Democrats have plans and ideas they campaign on. The Republicans don’t. What did Dan Forest run on? What were his ideals and plans for the state? Nothing! That’s why he lost the bid for the Governors Manson. NC is not a solid red state like folks might want to think it is. I would venture to say it’s moving more purple and blue every day.
No arguments there. I totally agree. I think Cooper has aspirations on the national level at Senate maybe even potusGiven that Pooper locked the whole state down without the legal authority to do so, the Republicans should have been able to run a ham sandwich and win. I think you may be wrong this time. It WILL make it to the floor. It WILL pass, and it WILL get some bipartisan support. This is my prediction. Whether the SOLID bipartisan crossovers are sufficient in number to override Roy is another question. And there it will sit.
I hope so, but at this time my trust in the .gov is very low.I think you may be wrong this time. It WILL make it to the floor. It WILL pass, and it WILL get some bipartisan support.

Michael Wray won’t vote for it to override Cooper. He will vote for it up until Cooper tells him not to do so.If you want to see a veto override, sign up for our alerts. Especially if you are in House 27. We have plans.
Hospitals. Or is that considered private property?I’d want to maintain private property owners’ rights to post their property. Other than schools and government buildings, what are the other big gun-free zones now?
I’d be in favor of allowing one to protect their property, preventing criminals from bringing civil suits if they were harmed during the commission of a crime, and/or finding a way to flip the current state of criminals having more protections than law abiding citizens.
They have the right to post their property in any state. That doesn't mean the state has the right to sanction what's described on the sign.I’d want to maintain private property owners’ rights to post their property.

I think the fact that ignoring a GFZ sign on private property is merely an infraction is quite reasonable. Politicians always talk about compromise, this is an actual compromise. Property owners have the ability to post their property and we have the option of ignoring their wishes with the risk of a relatively small fine. Is it the ideal situation? Of course not. I’d rather see stores/malls/public places that post have to either provide armed security or accept liability for any harm that comes to someone as a result of being unarmed. They have the right to post their property in any state. That doesn't mean the state has the right to sanction what's described on the sign.
I can post my business saying "no red t-shirts allowed", but that doesnt mean the state should impose a law criminalizing the wearing of a red shirt into my store. I can call the cops to arrest and file trespassing charges on anyone who is wearing a red shirt and refuses to leave. The same is true when it comes to carrying a gun.
"Private GFZ signs carry criminal penalties" is absolutely a violation of 2A.
If anything, gov buildings should be held to a higher standard and not be allowed to infringe on constitutional rights. But the reality is they’ll always think they’re special, that’s why fixing that one barely even crosses my mind.I don't like the idea that private property that is open to the public can randomly make things illegal. If you want 100% control over your property do not make it open to the public.
hospitals? DPAC? DMV?
I also don't see why 'government buildings' are automatically magical places. What's so special about a library, or a school, or the concessions building at Bass Lake compared to Harris Teeter or Lowes? Places that deal with actual criminals (courthouses, prisons, etc) provide some security so I can see that, but otherwise.... why? "the feels" isn't a reason.
, tune in and listen to the Dems whine and promise blood in the streets and blah blah blah
The blood on the streets flows in cities where citizens are unable to defend themselves due to pro criminal gun laws.Isn't that the issue: Dems/Progressives promising (and delivering) blood in the streets?
Since you put it that way - YEAH!Isn't that the issue: Dems/Progressives promising (and delivering) blood in the streets?
