I watched my dad and his close friends swap, buy, sell these old revolvers throughout the 60's, 70's, and till '83..........so many of the older revolvers in this thread just take me back in time and help me remember their exact comments as they fondled them. Those were the days.
I have two of his revolvers and several of his long guns in safe keeping to pass along to my son. I couldn't see myself doing anything different and I trust they'll mean as much to him as they have to me.
I know that some day my daughter is going to find herself with a really nice revolver collection. It is getting quite large and I don't expect her to keep all of them...just maybe a few of my favorites, and her favorites. Really excited to share my interest / hobby with her. She's only 6 months old but I tote her around to the gun shows, gun shops, pawn shops, parking lot gun deals, etc. There is no assurance of any long-term interest but it would be nice if she developed the same types of good memories that you describe. I bought her a 2017 Colt Cobra so that she could have one from the year that she was born. Also, it's stainless for diaper carry.
Just dropping a thought here, but have you thought about having someone to do a laser etching or engraving on the 2017 Colt? You could include her name and birthdate or something along those line to make this a keepsake for generations to come hopefully.
TONS of character ! I'd love to find something like this!Rescued a 1968 Smith & Wesson Model 10-5 from a pawn shop today. It shows honest bluing wear. The spots if paint on the front and rear sights, Tyler T and stags tell me that this revolver rode along with somebody for years. It's not a safe queen. Has lots of character and a nice trigger pull. Have not popped off the stags to ID the maker but very good fit and finish. More pics to follow.

Just picked this one up a while back. Iver Johnson Model 55 Target 22LR 8 shot cylinder. Still in the original vinyl box with the manual!
It is actually a 1955 Model 55.(I thought that was quite cool.) I have already shot it. Great shooting little gun. Best part is a bought it from a dear friend who will more than likely not be around much longer. Now every time I shoot it I will always remember him...Really nice. Is that early 50's production? You gonna shoot it?
Very excited. Just bought a Smith & Wesson Model 64-3 NY-1 with a 4" barrel and ROUND BUTT. This is a less common variant. A little more than 900 manufactured. Will come with box and at least some docs. It's on its way down from a gun shop in New York. Pics to follow. @TARHEELSTATE , it's coming your way
Nice...sounds like one of the pencil barrel guns aka tapered barrel.
Outstanding! The NY-1s w/ round butts and bobbed hammer are a fantastic service revolver. With the round butt and bobbed hammer, it'll carry like a snub but make full use of it's ctg. Great find!
Now you must find the Ruger NY-1 GP100s in both 3 & 4 inch.

It looks like NYPD recently sent out a memo concerning the few revolvers still on active service. Here's the link. This discussion about NY-1s sent me to the safe. Looks like a Model 64 NY-1, round butt, 3" barrel will do bedside duty tonight. It's funny, just noticed the etching on the crane "047." Wonder what that's about? Badge number maybe?

I may go to hell for finding a deal like this...a very good condition, mechanically perfect, Smith & Wesson Model 19-3 (nickel) with a 2.5" barrel. It came with Hogues. Swapped out the grips. Deal of the year at $425. Yup. More pics to follow.
