I noticed this the other day when I had to re-up my stash of 45acp.
I thought now wait a second...no way did I go through this many rounds. Then I realized that I wasn't shooting them all, but others were.
I absolutely love to have new shooters and show them the ropes. I expect to eat some ammo. All good, no problems.
So I got to thinking about it, and remembered that most of it went to guys who have no excuse for no ammo. One of them just bought a Sig 1911...I don't know which one..a full size with the pic rail on the dust cover. Regardless, a pricey gun.
He brings one box of 50 with him. And you bet, he goes through that instantly.
"Hey..you got some 45? I'll get it back to you..."
Problem is, they forget and never do.
I provide a vanishing species..a great outdoor range in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains that I solely maintain, shoot whatever you want however you want, no fees, no worries, great time.
Am I supposed to supply gas so you can get here too?
I put this in handguns but it's the same with the long guns. And 308 and 30-06 rounds add up real quick.
Sorry to go on a crying jag, but dadgum, it's starting to bend me a little bit. I guess what I'm relaying is that if someone is nice enough to invite you over to shoot, bring enough ammo for yourself and the extra nice thing to do would be to bring them a box of ammo for the favor.
There is no aspect of shooting that is free.
