Accuracy was good I was shooting my 8” steel plates from about 20 paces away. The recoil is similar to my g40 but I did not shoot any hot loads yesterday just some federal 180 gr I needed to shoot up for the brass.

Put 50 through this girl yesterday:

Had about 5 FTE’s out of 50 rounds. It was unfired by PO, and he bought it new from Sportsman’s Warehouse. Pretty sure it just needs to be broke in. If it’s still doing it after 250-300 rounds, I’ll swap the extractor. I am pretty sure it’ll loosen up before then.

Gonna bang on my twin RIA double stacks today. (I see an akimbo holster rig in my future!! [emoji41] )

....Before you swap the extractor, check and see if it has any tension. I may need a little tuning.

Yep….part of the process. Somewhere in my mess I’ve got a box of brand new Wilson Combat bulletproof extractors. If I can’t get the factory Kimber extractor tuned, the WC will absolutely solve the problem…..

I had the original Delta Elite when it first came out. I was a big 10mm fan before most people had heard of it. Back when the Bren Ten was the only firearm chambered for 10mm. Then they went bankrupt and I thought that was the end of the 10mm. So I was ecstatic when Colt picked it up in the Delta Elite. As much as I loved it, or the idea of it, I decided the recoil, muzzle flip and down range energy was just not needed in most defensive situations. In fact, in many cases the excess energy was a detriment. So I sold it and haven’t owned a 10mm since. For hunting purposes it might be great, but IMHO you don’t benefit much in defense or carry situations.

I have owned several 1911s in 10mm over the years. I was at one time so sold on the 1911 platform that pretty much every pistol I owned was some sort of 1911. I've owned Colts, S&Ws, Kimbers, Dan Wessons, Sig Sauers, Springfields, and Rock Islands etc in almost every caliber and configuration imagineable in a 1911. They are a great design without a doubt. I'm curious though. Have you considered any non 1911 10mm in your search? Is there something specific that leans you towards the 1911 over other designs? Is the high capacity/double stack the main reason for looking at the Rock Island 1911?

Update. I’ve taken the gun out three times and the slide still wont go home all the way back into battery but just sometimes. My gunsmith thinks it’s the magazine he found that it only happens with three rounds in the magazine. I ordered a mag today from Cary brass Guy hopefully that’s my issue.
