2022 edition animal harvest pic thread

Tried 1 last day to get another one. Took my 7 year old son with me. He loves it.

Didn't see anything, got back to the truck. No start. Found someone to jump, no luck. Had to get picked up, called a tow. Can't get a tow truck to where truck is in woods.

Diagnosis was a starter, bought starter and threw it in. Just got home from a "quick afternoon hunt".
 
lot of deer moving after the cold snap. never seen this many bucks mid morning at this time of the year, they must have been calorie starved. sadly had to watch them in the pasture i can't hunt lmao. hope to get out Sunday morning and on the 2nd due to the way new year's fell

Yep, I havenā€™t seen the deer I usually do behind my house. Across the road, Iā€™ve been seeing a bunch. The stands are 600 yards apart with a road separating. I usually have a few of the same deer on both cameras, especially the bucks. Not this year.

Can you expand upon your last sentence. Isn't the 1st the end of the season. Today would be the last day.

The season usually runs until last shooting hours on Jan 1st. Since Jan 1st is on a Sunday, they extend it until the next day which is Monday January 2nd. Looks like sunset is 5:18 on Monday, so you can hunt until 5:48 Monday evening.

If those are subs then they are not really any quieter than my supers out of my can. Is he running an AR platform? That was a good bit of report echoing back. I shot a doe when my neighbor was in his stand. He called his son to ask if he had shot anything. Son told him no. Dad told him it just sounded like a .22 anyway. It was me shooting a full power 300 BLk round. When I run subs out of my single shot they are stupid quiet. But the projectiles I was using were not performing well.

Hmm.

I watched it with the sound turned up, and you're right. Seemed to be a good bit of report.

Edit: He blames a sensitive mic and the AR platform.

I created habitat to shelter them after predators made them all but disappear, now with lots of blackberries, we have a decent population
