So long story short, the factory vgt turbo on my Ram has decided it only wants to cooperate when it wants too. Pretty common problem, the veins get sooted up due to the factory egr/emmisioms crap and it eventually burns up the little electric actuator that controls the vein position. I bought the truck a year ago and have been "deleted" electronically ever since but 150,000 miles of soot had already accumulated so it's demise was beyond my control. Pretty crappy timing as I had other plans for my tax return, but glad never the less to be able to take care of it right away.
The fix/upgrade:
Fleece Performance 2nd gen swap kit with a s463 turbo. Still waiting for my Steed Speed manifold to arrive (2-3 weeks from order date to ship date......ugh)
I do have a egr delete kit that's been sitting on the shelf for 6 months that I'll only need like one or two parts out of now that I'm going this route, but it'll allow me to get rid of the throttle valve and remount the dipstick with a new bracket.
Also going to get rid of the just-replaced $150 CCV filter (again, uhg) and make it a straight breather with a dump tube like the older 5.9 Cummins.
Not sure how much interest there'd be on this forum but I figured I'd share and update with before/after pics when the rest of my goodies get here.
