Stop worrying bout incidentals...it'll work out...Thinking about varying sizes of gas cylinders. Keep getting smaller to weed out the competition.
The old blind DJ in Oh Brother Where Art Thou...Ya gotta watch that competition.

Is one going able to see the cylinders at 300 yards??

I’ll certainly give anyone a run for first last place! I’m in, pending the date and no family conflicts!

Four feet sounds like it will be tiny at that distance.....

So me trying to shoot that should be lots of fun for y'all to watch! lol.

Fair warning to all who plan to attend -- I'm so excited about this event that I went out this afternoon and started practicing for it. I decided to train to duplicate as closely as possible the scenario for me shooting at Battery Oaks.

Could you just give me a few minutes to try some rifles at more distance than I'm used to? lol.
Hey, your more than welcome to shoot mine while we're there.

Thanks, that's sweet. I hope Billy will have some for me to shoot Sunday too, so I can see if I can even see that far!

I'll bring plenty of ammo. You can shoot mine while I'm trying to get up.
I'll try to help you up, if you like....brave of you to get down that far....lol.

A full cylinder and a centerfire rifle and there will be no doubt if the shooter hits it.

We used to go shoot prairie dogs in Montana back in the day. Basic jest was 223s, big F350 Crew cab, pulling flat bed trailer with three benches attached to the trailer. Big fun. But I also took a BRNO 22 lr bolt gun, and found out I really had much more fun with that. Last several trips we took I started getting off the trailer and benches, took walks behind where the other guys were shooting with a set of sticks and the BRNO..... This was much more fun to me. I would sit down, shoot 22 lr for awhile, then make a move 50-100 yards and repeat.

One afternoon probably about a 1/2 mile from the truck and other shooters, I was on a hill overlooking a large flat area way way out there. A flat area about the size of a baseball field, all red dirt, and right in the middle I could spot a prairie dog standing up just looking around. I had a 600 yard range finder, and it would not measure the distance? I started walking rounds in. At 10x in the scope, the Prairie dog was in the very bottom, and the cross hairs were in the top of some ponderosa pine in the background. No, I don't have a clue. And no, I never touched the prairie dog, but once and awhile one would lob in as close as 2-3 feet of him and kick up dust! It was hilarious and really big fun. I fired an entire box of 50 rounds at that rascal and had a really good time. It was so far that you could shoot, look up and wait to see where the dust kicked up. Big fun....... LOL.........

On that same trip I busted one at a measured 176 yards with 22 lr. That was a record, but would not stand............I was pretty damn proud of that one.

On the next trip out, same story, walk about with sticks and BRNO. Only this time I had two dogs out, after two rounds, the 3rd connected. Another one was just behind, I hit it with the 4th round. How Far? Got the rangefinder, first one was 226 yards, #2 was 227 yards. New record. Never broke that one. Man that was big fun. We have not been in many years now.

At 300 yards, I will not need a reduced aperture in my rear peep sight, that's for sure. Not even for the big tank. (I wonder how far down I can crank the front post?)

<leaves forum briefly to check the 10/22 sights>
