@Averagejoe if this helps, I've reinstalled that buffer multiple times, and didn't rotate it exactly how it was before. That's why the marks are at 9:00 and 2:00 instead of at 3:00 facing straight down into the lower.
Ah I see what you are talking about now. I was pretty sure I wasn’t tracking.As I close my AR15 upper on its lower, I can watch the rear of the BCG push the buffer off of the retaining pin. Try it. In an assembled AR15 the buffer should never touch the buffer retaining pin.
Thank you, I did not know about this, and I will check it tonight. Hopefully that's the issue.1st and 2nd issues regarding the “too tight” lower to upper receiver fit. This could be a very very easy fix. Barnes rifles are truly precision machines. To that point, to ensure there is no “slop” between the upper / lower, BPM rifles come with a flat connection point on the upper connection point and lowers have an adjustable tension screw with the nylon bushing on top. Have you tried adjusting it lower (if it’s not already bottomed out).. it screws up and down. If bottomed out, try taking it out or shaving some off the top and reinstalling it. I adjusted mine so that it is very tight and I need some extra effort to get the rear pin in.. see pics
@Pop N Shots The lower in question has a hole there, no nylon bushing or screw. It was also bought as a stripped lower, so that's probably why it's missing. The complete rifle has the adjustment screw and bumper, but that lower fits everything I put it on. I looked for any other kind of adjustment screw and didn't see one. Oh well. Thank you for the help.
Hey… we tried and that’s all we can do. Back to the drawing board!@Pop N Shots The lower in question has a hole there, no nylon bushing or screw. Agreed… this would be my plan, if it were me. Just ask if you can bring it by for them to check it out. I guarantee you’ll leave satisfied and with the gun working the way it should.From what I have heard Andrew Barnes is a stand up guy. Call him and go show him your issues. My guess is he takes care of them. It’s not a long drive from your place to his shop.
I would go to the shop and show him in person what you are talking about. I’ve had several interactions with him and all were positive. It’s at least worth a trip to try.From what I have heard Andrew Barnes is a stand up guy. Call him and go show him your issues. My guess is he takes care of them. It comes quick and hits hard when it does!The problem is @Fred is a smart dude and wants to do it all himself. He hasn’t been humbled by age or failure yet.
@CZfool68 @Average Joe @Pop N Shots
I called BPM and spoke to Barnes. He refuses to acknowledge a problem exists.
I was.Knowing you, you weren’t nice.
It's a registered SBR, so I think that would be a felony.Want me to take it over there and get it fixed? 😬
I was.

I took one of mine for the same issue (too tight with some uppers that work fine with every other lower I have, which is a lot, including 3 other BPMs, 2 of which are complete rifles) and Andrew was nice but put it on a jig and said it was in spec and didn’t do anything else. I was disappointed. I don’t have the adjustment screw mentioned above installed. I use it with an upper that is a little tight but can be unpinned with some effort but no tool other than a tough thumbnail
I shot 3gun matches with Andrew for years, many moons ago.
If you're not a trustee of my NFA trust it is illegal for you to possess the NFA items owned by the trust.
The complete Barnes rifle has 3 issues, the Barnes lower has one. I think the issue is Barnes.Seems the problem is all you guys buying lego’s and putting your blocks together. Us simpletons that just buy complete rifles have better luck. Sometimes it pays to be basic.

I think some things fell through the cracks in production due to massive demand during the damn panic.I know it’s been a few days since this has been up to the top. One of my friends on a local dept around us said they switched out all their BPM rifles out to another brand due to QC issues.
I had a BPM complete lower years ago 10+ and it was good.
Nor I.Wouldn’t doubt that. I never had a bad interaction with Barnes, myself.
