Boulder, CO : Register Your AR-15s

You have to own one in order to turn one in or register....

Honestly I don't know anyone who actually owns one. I know a lot of people who borrow them from friends; I know I don't have any....
There may come a time, soon, where neighbors and friends will turn in those they suspect are breaking the law. Just sayin'

But why? What's the impetus, or the incentive? What if you don't know your neighbors, or they don't know you? Or don't have neighbors? I mean, I don't even know anyone who actually owns any ARs, or have 30-round mags, or has a crack pipe, or a pot plant.... I have no information to give.

I think if someone who keeps to themselves now, will do so most anytime for most any condition. It's human condition. People in the hood has the whole "snitches get stitches and end up in ditches" thing down pat.

Ya I guess we'll see if all the folks with the "Molon Labe" stickers, shirts, patches, tattoos ect are serious or not.

That's part of my whole 'thing', or issue. People advertise intent and are angered when they get singled out. What ever happened to the whole 'gray man' mentality? But if you're gonna talk the talk....

Well, obviously I'm not talking about you, gunless. Most conservative people like to mind their own business, but those liberals like to meddle in everyone's business. And that disease is creeping into our neighborhoods and lives everywhere. Besides, it's for the children.

And so the Cuckening of Colorado continues. I for one will not spend one dime in that state, hunting skiing or otherwise, until they reject this mantel of BS socialism being foisted upon them.

Idaho is farther but they like my money just fine.

@georgel , @rdinatal .... I see that near the end point, around "X". We are on "C". While I see things like that could happen in certain areas (highly liberal, NIMBY areas), I see a lot of empathy setting in before we get to USA-cum-Nazi Germany.

To the point other have made about fighting The Man a la American Revolution, remember it didn't turn out too well for the Americans in most head-to-head battles: it took guerilla warfare, deceit, psychological warfare, to force their hand and lose the war. Kinda like Vietnam, fighting the Americans. Sitting at the front door with a shotgun when SWAT comes busting in to take your name-your-favorite-gun-and/or-accessory-here will only get you dead. People need to start thinking now about what a long-term campaign is going to look like.

Edited to add, while I can certainly envision a scenario of the US Police State like some have described, I also envision a million ways it won't happen, or will go sideways. If I am wrong I will be OK being told I am wrong.

I was thinking this same thing this afternoon. Not necessarily a show of force with AR's, but what if a couple of thousand people showed up and said, "We will not comply." Will they arrest them all? Would that show them that they are being myopic and that not everyone agrees?

Realistically, what are they going to do if the majority does not comply, like in Connecticut?
If you're going to give govt. a stiff middle finger, you had better be prepared to back up doing so with some teeth. Allowing yourself to be arrested for such an act only legitimized the system. The choice of whether or not things turn violent will be on Govt. That The People are willing to go there is one of the few things that will keep it in check.

@Chuckman if things in this country go sideways, a large part of the conflict will be guerrilla tactics out of necessity.

The people did that in Washington. A referendum was passed that made it illegal to "transfer" a gun without a background check. Hundreds (maybe thousands) of gun owners gathered at the state capital after the law became effective and had a show-and-tell day in which guns were very publicly (lots of media invited) repeatedly "transferred" from person to person with no background checks. And nobody was arrested.

Good news! Many people are moving to Idaho from California now.

Allowing yourself to be arrested gives you a forum to challenge the law. Resisting arrest proves that they were right to disarm you and no one will care that you were right.

Supposedly the great civic leaders have tasked the local department with “certifying” that the owner passes a background check and then issue 2 certificates (both go to the AR’s owner ... 1 to stay with the AR and 1 for the owner to keep in a safe place and the local department supposedly doesn’t keep any record)

BS.

But what do we mean by the American Revolution? Do we mean the American War? The Revolution was effected before the War commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the People.

Colorado sure has changed since the early 80s when I was stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs. I would have never ever thought that the state could flip liberal blue that quickly, or at all for that matter. Once again, the urban areas drag a state blue.

Second Amendment abused and ignored in the city of Boulder.

Legal Disarmament or Bunk?
City officials claim that being classified a Home Rule municipality allows them this flagrant disregard
of the United States Constitution and, in specific, the most freeing of rights – the Second Amendment:

Yet Boulder authorities are adamant in their claim that no paperwork will be copied or kept (yeah right) and gun owners keep all certificates. Here’s the fun part of that – on the City’s Firearm Certification web page, they warn: “If both certificates are lost or destroyed after December 31, 2018, possession of the weapon is no longer legal.”
