Government places there is more of a penalty (courthouses, the secured area of a police station, post office, etc). Private businesses, you can only be trespassed if you are asked to leave and then don't comply.
I am not advocating breaking the law in any way. However, if I just shot another person, in public, and was in fear for my life, then I would probably have that as the last thing on my mind. A lawyer might try to say it was premeditated and you were reckless or whatever bullshit. I would have to see some precedent on that (I am sure that depends on the county).
But in reality, if the worse thing I got slapped with out of a self-defense shooting was an infraction, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
