Censorship

This isn't in tortuga??

Apple is threatening to remove Parler from their app list and google has already removed it from the play store. The Parler app mysteriously stopped working tonight.

Not sure who said it has been removed from the Google play store but it is still there. I downloaded, installed it and it is working as of right now...

That's because it is spelled Parlor, not Parler. Parler never was on Google play, lol
No it's not. It just came back up on my phone.

It was on the google play store, weeks ago, because that is where I downloaded it from.

Yes. True within my own household..... nothing more posted.

Parler stopped working (network error) because of the massive influx of users/activity. This is because of the large purge happening on twitter. I have lost 500+ followers in the past 24 hours. Others are down 10’s of thousands.

“gO bUiLd yOuR oWn aPp!” and then they knee cap the competition. Big tech needs to be broken up and the “in good faith” section of 230 needs to be defined.

Yes, it does, but don’t expect that to happen by federal govt. If this is going to happen it is going to be by unconventional means.

Looks like Parler uses Amazon's servers. I wonder what the future holds...........................

The problem with simply breaking up big tech is the technology is not the problem. It is the people and ideology. All we’re going to do is create more little Hitlers at more companies. Might reduce the pain for a while, but the problem still exists. The fact the employees at Twitter asked management to block a person, much less the President, is indicative of how big a problem there is. It isn’t just Dorsey, it’s the hundreds or thousands of little, ignorant and dangerous useful idiots that work for him.

This is where we are headed with all the censorship.
Will forums be next after what facebook, twitter and company are doing to only allow what they approve.IW2eHfYW4n.jpeg

Wow I thought you guys were capitalists'? The hell with what is being said on twitter or any other Private business communication platform. These private platforms - Just like this one we are communicating on now- it is private owned. Not a Taxpayer paid for public forum. Just like this forum, there are rules and regulations. If I break the rules I will be banned of blocked. In fact in many cases it does not even matter if rules are broken ,if the owner does not want me on board they can ban me. That's how I got banned from over yonder on the Canadian forum. I mentioned this site and they banned me.
If twitter, facebook or any other platform wants to ban me its their right to do so. I might not like it but it does not belong to me.
Now in other forms of Government that's not the case. Like an Oligarchy. Like a man at the top and a small group of his friends tell everybody else how to act regardless of rules and laws. Sound familiar?

Different app. This is Parler, if you want to directly install it:

I assume that soon Parler will directly post the apk on their site.

@Lafayette Gregory thanks for your insight.

Defining the ‘in good faith’ section of 230 would not constitute a gov take over. Also monopoly/antitrust laws are still within the confines of capitalism. The real solution is for a free and open platform to emerge but, as we have seen, if google/Apple ban the apps and isp’s follow suit, then what would you suggest? This is the reason for anti-trust and monopoly law is it not?

Additionally, if these corps are basically doing the gov’s biding under a private banner is it really still a private enterprise (see prisim as an example)?
