Chainsaws - let’s see em.

I was kinda torn on the m-tronic. New out of the box. Added fuel and fired on the 4th pull. Spit and sputtered for about 30 seconds then leveled out and purred like a kitten. 2 hours later on a cold start. Fired first pull on the run setting.
Let me know how you like it.

James River had it at another store. I was in 2 more places today that had both models
Well dang. I should have waited but they said they were not sure any shipments would be in for a while. I assume you came up here to Newton. The tractor lot is almost completely bare. I wonder if that is because the area store is not selling much or they can’t get inventory. Newton is a tough place for sales. Nothing does very well in this town.

I'm not sure what store it came from. From what they told me when I was shopping is that it isn't a high volume store so they don't get inventory. New South get shipments daily. And most are already sole.

Small town and people here don’t support local stores. Only 3 reasons to come to Newton, NC. All involve misery- pay taxes, get a lawyer, and go to jail.

have been impressed with Echo with the last couple year's experiences. power to cost ratio is there compared to Stihl and Husqvarna for someone who is not an arborist or logger. Also have a beast of a brush cutter srm-410u and pole saw ppt-2060h
I’ve heard good things about Echo. You just don’t see many in my area. I have a friend that only buys Echo equipment. I’ve seen his brother using the chainsaw and they never do any maintenence to it or any other equipment. It just keeps on purring.

I think they jipped you on the bar.
The 362 normally comes with the ES bar.
The E bar is what comes on the homeowner grade saws.
I had a 362 prior to my 462. It was a nice saw but I couldn't pass up 10.2 more CC for an extra lb of weight.
I find a 50cc and a 72cc cover my needs perfectly.

I priced a 25” bar for my MS391. Can’t remember the price but seemed like close to $90 before tax. That was at Southern States. I was a bit surprised. You would think a 25” chain would be more than a bar.

That's about right for a lightweight Japanese bar like a Taumara. Don't pay that price for a Southern states walmart quality bar.

Yeah not having a shop/dealer around would be a decision for you to consider. I've been on them for two years now and they've been great for firewood and clearing. They needed a little carb tuning but of course most new saws come rich so they won't blow up. I have two dealers not too far from me so guessing I'm staying with Echo now. have ran german and scandi saws, they all work great. I don't run one for a living so the value is too good to pass for me

Here is my 3 from right to left, ” The angrysmurf” farmertec g660 which is clone ms660 bought mainly just to play with 2 years ago and been a great buy for the money coming from mainly a stihl user over the years. If it blows up it owes me nothing at this point but runs strong. Usually have 28” bar on it but runs the 36” pictured when needed. Mainly got it because dads old homelite 750 is a beast to run very long and showing its age.

My work horse the 361 in the middle had it for many years after upgrading from ms 290

The little red thing is a “chainsaw” only sticker on it lol. Its a zonaoh 2500 clone or husky 435 clone but is the $98 dollar ebay version and only 25cc. Bought it to leave in equipment atv or truck so i won’t be as upset if it got stolen and its light weight. Only had it about a year and with some tuning it runs pretty dang well and handy little size limbing and pruning working around fences and starts easy. Jury still out on how it would hold up long term since it has alot of plastic on it.

Just finshed working on carb on dads ms260 and brothers 026 and now got this 015 to see if I can get running again3637DBA2-4083-40D0-9B31-FCC9CD8628A4.jpeg

I'm really interested in one of these, Where did you get yours from?
I ordered direct from them but shipping is part of the cost and takes a while to get by boat. Roughly 2 mths. Now you can order from their site and get us stock which has the shipping included and much much faster or use one of the us dealers. The kits you assemble yourself. The blue ones are preassembled just needed minor checking over and tuning up. If you order from a dealer many do this for you if you want. They have a pretty big following on fb and has US dealer list there. I will say they are not for everyone as in if you normally carry your saw to a shop for every little thing they wont help you more than likely. If you are comfortable working on a saw doing minor repairs or tune it you will be fine and lots of youtube videos on them.

I need to get my little Homelite XL12 running. I bought it new in 1987, when they were still made in the USA. It is a great light weight saw for limbing and light work.

Never owned a chainsaw before until this year. Back in the spring I picked up 3 at different estate sales. I don't believe any are anything special. One came with a case, owners manual, 2 spare new chains and a few files. Two have the fuel lines rotted off, like totally gone. I got all of them to run by squirting some fuel in the spark plug hole. Had intended to get all of these operational but then we got into buying and selling a house and moving. So now that we're settled into the new house I'll get these on the project list.

Picked up another one today, priced too low to not bring it home. Figured it would be another project but maybe not. Checked for fuel, got about half a tank. Gave it about 15 pulls, got nothing. Pulled the cover off the air filter, not looking good. Checked for spark, good there as well as compression. Cleaned the spark plug, took the air filter off and gave it a shot of ether. Started on the second pull. I don't think the muffler is EPA compliant, sounds like a Bucking Billy Ray version.

This one may be okay with a clean up and a sharpening job.

I bought a husqvarna bp350 backpack blower from a pawn shop for $50 cause it wouldn't run. Took it home and found someone had put the wrong spark plug in it. It was just a tad bit long and the piston was closing the gap. New plug and it runs like a champ

Hell yeah !! Nice. Late 70s very early 80s model

Surprised it had gas in it, the grommet in the tank usely goes bad and leaks all the fuel out.
Give it a clean, get it running, hearing protection is a must.
