I know you'll probably catch this on final edits, but I did see this: "... the Pinkerton’s appeared before me." Pinkertons shouldn't have an apostrophe.

Received an early birthday present today.

A Pedersoli Model 1886 in .45-70. With the exception of the more modern sporting buttstock, it's the spitting image of what Jedidiah Huckleberry Smith uses in my books.

The background is a 'faux coyote hide' from Restoration Hardware we bought at a discount store in Asheville.

Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to get out to the range.

-sigh- It's such a first world hardship to not be able to shoot outside anytime you want.

Keep writing and push for a movie deal and you will be able to get property where you can shoot whenever you want.

But it was an entertaining for a non-artistic neanderthal to play designer with.

Yep, I made a private discord and installed the bot so no one sees my sad attempts. I think those are imported old photos that the AI makes variations of.
 
Today is actually day TWO of 'Pretending to be a full time author'.

Which is code for, I'm burning my PTO before I lose it and writing like crazy.

Not much to update, except I'm slaying my keyboard during this time. The title is firmed and set. I don't have a back cover blurb to share yet because I haven't slowed down enough to think of one yet.

This book will wrap up the major story lines that have developed from the previous three books while setting the stage for the series to continue. I've a spin-off 'redemption arc' story that I want to work on from Cato's point of view. I've a concept to keep Jedidiah around... and I've a plan to do another trilogy that takes place about 25-30 years later... because the roaring twenties were a helluva time to be alive. Especially if you had dinosaurs.

And as an aside - after this past week off from work and writing like a madman... I'm going to smoke this end of the year deadline. Probably get it done in time to send out premature copies to interested folks before Christmas.

Also, I wrote the final three chapters today.

Most satisfying and enjoyable thing I've ever written. There is no better ending.

My buddy just got his annual pile of audible credits. I have his account on my phone.
so, he just bought book 1 in audio form. he might buy book 2 and 3 as well
 
Well I just ordered book 4 on kindle and will order audible when it comes out. Just finished book 2 on audible today. Will start 3 tomorrow. Absolutely enjoy these.

Pausing my other reads to read this tonight!

I see you’re a part of kindle unlimited. Question for you, I have seen where other writers have stated that they make significantly more of of kindle unlimited due to the way it pays (from my understanding it pays per page read) than they do on regular sales (physical and e reader combined), have you found this to be true?

So, yes. Kindle Unlimited pays per page read. A pretty tiny amount, but it adds up over a couple/few hundred pages.

For instance, West of Prehistoric(Book 1), has almost hit 1 million pages read. That's a lot of reads when you consider it's only about 300 pages long.

But paywise, it works out pretty much the same for print/Kindle Unlimited. About $1.30 to $1.40 per book bought(either paperback at %10 royalties or ebook at 40% royalties)/read. And for new authors who haven't gotten established yet, Kindle Unlimited works out great for us. It's hard to get people to take a buy risk on a new guy, but a free read from a $10/month program? Yeah, that'll do.

Now Audible pays pretty well, but it's the same thing. Either you buy it for a bunch of monies, or you listen to it through their Audible program, and it pays around $5-$7.50 (I think - don't quote me on that, I haven't done the math.)
