Commie Rifle Pics Thread

If it's done right, then it's ok, but just s bunch of shit thrown on it, nope

Yeah, like an AR you have to use decent parts. But other than the futility of that optics rail handguard I am fine with that AK lol

I like the AK iron sights

I do but my old eyes don't lol. I had good luck with the various peep sights for AKs and tried a red dot on one of those receiver rails that lock to the stock tongue and it worked well. Alas all my AKs are gone and with the market how it is and the PITA it is to add optics to an AK I'm probably just going to run ARs from now on. It's literally half the cost.

Still waiting on a KNS piston and trying to decide on a flash hider. I wanted small and light so I bought the 4 prong from Circle10AK when it was on sale Black Friday, but it isn't deep enough and the detent pin doesn't lock it up on the muzzle. Which sucks. The current brake eliminates what little recoil there is, but the concussion is massive and the flash even larger.

Yeah that looks really loud.

Did a comparison between muzzle nut and muzzle brake on the vz58. As with most brakes, noise is increased but shooting 2-3 bursts I was able to keep it on man size target at 25m. Without brake, first round is on target and other rounds impacting above target. Also muzzle blast is directed back to shooter. I would use it on a select fire 58 but not on a semi. Top rifle has a Russian AK sling and bottom sling is the Czech "she" stamped sling.

yo...that is some sexy sheeet comrade.

build or buy? Tell me more please

Thank you thank you! It's quite a nice little pew pewer.

The AK-V came from PSA equipped with an SBA3 brace. I swapped that for a folding brace from NC's own CNC Warrior. They make right- and left-hand folders for pretty much any AK stamped or milled pistol.

They also make Galil-style folding stocks for rifles (see post #140 in this thread: https://www.carolinafirearmsforum.c...mie-rifle-pics-thread.2129/page-4#post-544721) and both versions are super high quality.

NICE. I actually just saw your dedicated thread to the AK-V too....

In posted link, I forget the name of that vented gas block guard. My brother is huge into AK building. I remember when I wanted to build my first, I was drooling over one of his builds with it and he told me they veryyy difficult to find these days.

I think you're referring to the venerable "Cheese Grater" from Khyber Customs: https://khybercustoms.com/ak-furniture/ ;)

Would love to see some of your bro's AK handiwork here if he's not against having those images posted on an internet forum! I finally have a house with some extra space and would love to get into building, but yes, AK parts kits aren't nearly as prevalent (or cheap) as they used to be. C'est la vie...

+1. Sometimes I have to use my thigh as leverage when pushing down the stock to fold it.

I had the same issue with my Ace AK folding stock (pre Doublestar), guess the jiggling seats everything super snug.

yes the cheese grater, ha. He had one from Chinese AK or something but there wasn’t anyone making them few years back.

here is one of his, I believe a tantal. He did a rust blueing on the steel.

Very nice! Rust blue is an awesome look for AK builds.

I am going to be taking possession of an SLR95 here in the near future. I have a question for the community.
Ironwood Designs has furniture for single tang 95's. Is this a strong stock that will be "ok" with only the top tang? I have read where people say you MUST have a bottom tang fitted and riveted. Does Ironwood do something different, or is simply furniture to accept the top tang only. Is it a bad idea to go that route? Any and all info would be appreciated. It is coming with a BCM AR stock and adapter along with the original Thumb Hole as well. Thank you!
- Brent

You'll be fine with the Ironwood stock, @brentona - no added tang construction work necessary. Of course it won't be a "true deban," but from what I've read Ironwood's 95 stock is rock solid.

Does anyone have experience with muzzle devices and SLR95 rifles? They're not threaded barrels and use a bolt on device. Are there any adapters or things I can use short of threading the barrel and having a detent drilled and fitted?

@USMC6094 is that an "F" or an "FR" model? Does it have a side rail?

Unless you prefer the scout setup (which I like too, albeit with a smaller red dot), moving that optic up and behind the rear sight leaf via a side mount (like an RS Regulate or Midwest Industries mount) would likely cure the front-end heft. If you want to try that but your Arsenal is a non-railed F model, check out the Master Mount if you're not familiar with it. Wonderful product that lets you affix a rail in just a few moments. Super simple to install/uninstall, not permanent - no welding, riveting, drilling, or screwing - and it holds zero.

Just a thought!
