For years, I have told myself that after retirement, my EDC would change from the blocky Glocks to something more refined and tasteful. My first thoughts were my commander-sized 1911. However, now CZ has the Shadow 2 Compact on the market, which really has my attention. Has anyone got a chance to shoot one? If so, what were your likes and dislikes? I haven't been able to handle one in person, they are out of stock at my local shops. I'm hesitant about dropping $1400 +/- on an EDC pistol that I have not personally held. Below is a link for reference. Any thoughts?

I've shot Shadows.
Are you after an optics ready pistol and willing to pay extra for a competition trigger, aluminum grips, and fancy sights?
If not I would snag a P01 instead.
I am trying to transition to optics on my EDC due to aging eyes and wearing bifocals. I've thought about the CZ P01 or 75 and having the slide milled. Any opinions about having the slide milled?

Can't say anything about that, I've never done it on a 75 series pistol.

I have a P10c with a red dot and really like it. I'd recommend trying it out if you get chance. A fraction of the cost too. That looks sweet but they are just jazzing up a P01 to make some money, IMO. I have a P01 too and recommend trying that as well actually.

Linky no worky for me. Couldn’t find a compact Shadow on the CZ USA or CZ Custom site. For carry I’d probably just Cajun Gun Works a P01 or splurge on a CZ Custom version that fits the bill. Although pricing has gotten a little crazy on some stuff. I might need to sell one at those numbers. 😬

They say you only live once right? 👻

Looks like it hasn't hit the US market yet but there is a lot of info out there on it. Now I want one, thanks a lot 🤦‍♂️😂

That works. Looks cool, but I’d probably just go with a jazzed up P01or PCR. Plus I’m a decocker guy generally Speaking with CZ’s.

Ive been itching to get my hands on one of these. I had the shadow 2 for a while but sold it as IMO it was too heavy and large for EDC. Loved the feel of it and the trigger felt like it was on bearings which is what I hear of the compact as well. Im sure if I come across one ill grab it and run it against the DWX compact I just picked up. Been waiting on the DWX for years and was lucky enough to find one last week. Only real gripe with the DWX is its not OR (what guns today are not OR especially at $2K) and I can not activate the safety while using a firing grip. I also have a P01 and an Omega with the springs done in it so real curious how it would feel verses the Omega.

Love the idea , but I sold my shadow 2 this summer after owning it for a few years
What I liked ( accuracy , trigger, and overall “feel” of the gun)
What I did not like ( weight, not 100% reliable) ultimately these are the 2 reasons why I sold it. 2 trips to CZ and the gun was better but still picky in the ammo it would cycle. This combined with how heavy was the straw that broke the camels back.
I wanted to like it , but …

I’ll be happy to, of I can make it.
Of not are you ever in the apex during the day?
Not usually. I work in the opposite direction. But if you cannot make the next lunch, I'll arrange to meet you in Apex. Thanks!

P-01 has the firing pin block, whereas the Shadow 2 does not, if that matters to you.

S2 going to have better trigger because of that, but with somewhat less safety.

Stopped by a LGS on the way home today. They actually had a Shadow 2 compact in stock. It was really nice. However, the trigger felt a little too far away for my trigger finger. And with a master grip it wasn’t comfortable with the DA pull.

In SA, that trigger was like butter! Which, it can be carried in SA with the manual safety. But the safety was also difficult to reach comfortably from the master grip.

Chunky hands are a curse! @Get Off My Lawn you don’t have to worry about bring the your shadow to lunch. As much as I wanted to love it, I’m going to pass on the shadow compact. 😕

I bleeves Cajun Gun Works has a shorter reach trigger thingy

Now that might work! I’ll check them out.
It’s just money…

Same here-I wear bifocals too. I had my CZ P-01 milled at NCEngravers for a Holosun 507K Green. They did an excellent job. They run excellent sales periodically.

@Row20million thanks for the info! She’s is a beauty! Did you replace the hammer or is that factory?

Its aftermarket and so is the trigger
If I had to bet money, I'd say he put a Pro Package in that P-01

Replaced it-Full Cajun Gun Works Pro Package

Just happened to pick one up today. I guess it will keep me company while my DWX is at the machine shop. Hope it shoots as well as the full sized I had a few years back.

Have you got a chance to shoot it? If so, give us a review.

Sometimes things are just meant to happen. I blame you for this @Average Joe

Awesome! Congratulations sir! Always happy to help others spend their money 🤣
I see you’re a fool, CZ that is.

I can see swapping my Shadow2 to a compact version.
I honestly loved everything about the gun except the trigger reach. I have been looking really hard at the CGW reduced reach trigger. So when…… uh I mean if I end up with one, I’m blaming you 🤣

UPDATE:

Took 2 very inexperienced shooters out today. Shot at 10 yards so as not to make things too difficult. On me. Have not been shooting enough the last 3-4 months. 23 year old goes first with the Shadow 2. He keep about 6 of every 10 shots in the black. Misses weren’t bad once he got used to the gun. He shot my Beretta better, but not by much. Bigger, heavier gun probably helped there. His Dad shot 2nd was a little better. Good shooting considering he said he had not shot in 2-3 years. I proceeded to pretty much put about almost all the shots in the black with just a few misses in the white. We probably put about 200 perfect rounds through the gun. Will challenge it a little more next time out. Going to have to get a holster soonish.

Sorry, things got busy and then the holiday. Actually swapped the grips for a set of palm swell veloce ones and added a 508T(glad im not the only one with old eyes). Ran a couple hundred rounds through it today. DA reach is a bit long like you noticed and ive got fairly large hands, doubt ill go the route of the short reach kit yet. Other issue is I like to zero my dots around 15-20 yards but its not happening with the 508T and the I.M. plate, POI is about 2 inches high VS POA at my preferred distance so gotta figure that out. Pistol ran flawlessly and is obviously more accurate than I am but thats usually the case. Im not a fan of the flatter safety so I may change that out to the fullsized version. I like to ride the safety while firing plus ita a bit hit or miss operating it as can be seen by the skin already stuck in the ridges. Over all at its price point I am leaning towards its a winner. Cant wait for the DWX to get back so I can really compare them better.
The target below was 2 mags @ 15 yards BUT aiming at the line for the 9 ring to hit center.

Thank you for the range report. Let us know if you figure out why you are having trouble with the 508T.

Well ive ruled out an issue with the 508T itself. I removed another 508T from another pistol that was zeroed and it does the same on the S2C. All thats left is the plate or the factory cut on the gun. As far as I know the plates should just be flat so thats leading me in a direction I am not happy with. This is not rocket science........or am I missing something?
