Did You Go Shooting Today

Put about 75 rds through my new Sig P365X. It shoots a lot softer than I had figured it would. No issues with 50 rds of Blazer Brass 115 gr. or with 25 rds of a combination of Federal HST and Speer Gold Dots.
I had to put the Wilson grips on mine to get a good purchase on the gun. IMHO, it us night a day between the 2 grips.

Went to Woodys today to do a 25 meter zero on a used Ruger Mini 14 Ranch Rifle that I got from a forum member. I added a Monstrun 1.5-4x scope for less than $100 that seems like a good range toy scope. The scope was on paper at 5 o'clock on the first shot and quickly got in the black, 3 rounds touching on a GI M16A2 zero target. Ammo was my reloads with 62 gr Armscor FMJ bullets. Next step will be 100 yds.

That looks like a later version with the heavy barrel.

I've got a Mini-30 stainless. It is about a 4 moa gun.

Shot my Ruger Precision Rimfire .22 at my 16" gong from 325 yards again this morning. Wanted to move out more, but the Fall wind picked up right when I got there. My fault for not getting out earlier. Next week I'm gonna get there by 7:30 am. Still did OK. Any further out today and I would only be wasting ammo. I did get time to make a couple of repairs to the target rack, and repainted the yard marks out to 650. Had a good time.

I took my wife and son to my brothers place to shoot a few rounds. It had been a long time since my son had shot anything, so I took a bunch of guns and a total of 9 different calibers. I had picked up a couple of steel gongs for my nephew, and we had a good time ringing some steel together. Now I need to clean some guns.

Early start today at TSA. On the left is a P365 .380 on its first trip to the range, and on the right is a factory OD G19 frame with a threaded Advantage Arms kit that I had cerakoted to match.

I shot yesterday and shot well at the southern defensive pistol league match in wilkes.
Finished 2nd in accuracy.
Ran the new girsan hipower clone

Went Saturday and confirmed zero/practiced with my carry G19.5, sent about 250 rounds through it, 0 issues and very accurate. Also put about 200 rounds through my new AR15, also no issues and confirmed zero at 50 yards.

Unfortunately, due to the prices of 5.56 I likely won't be going again until prices go down so I don't drop my stock lower than I like.

Went to Woodys with a friend for a day's worth of gabbing interspersed with some shooting. Helped him zero his Mini 14, tested some reloads in my Colt carbine (pulled down Olympic SS109 rounds), and shot an eclectic selection of handguns: Beretta SW #3 .38 copy, Colt series 80 .45, Mauser Luger 9mm, Cimarron SAA .45. A grand day out!

How was the Girsan?
The trigger is heavy there's no getting around that. But not so heavy it's unusable.
The sights are great. I see them well. I finished second in accuracy out of everybody that shot with down six for the whole match.
270 rounds fired since ive had it and not a hiccup.

Very good! Does it have the magazine safety? I like the looks of it and Girsan builds excellent handguns for the money.

It did but I too it out, so the mag would drop free.
The match version comes without the mag safety, a flat trigger, and fiber optic sights,

I played with a standard model at a gun shop, the trigger was very crunchy. I'm sure some judicious trigger work would be of benefit.

Went to PHA to wring out a couple of cans (YHM T3) and to try a new spring/buffer combo with the 10.3 setups and the 14.5

Sprinco red / H3 seems to be the ticket for the short boys…worked well suppressed and unsuppressed. Went with a blue / H2 for the 14.5.

T3’s an awesome can…ran great on the 10.3 rifles. Although they’re going to live on the shortys, I did run a few through the 14.5 with a T3 attached and although I always use ear pros, I tried a few without….sounded great and not even mildly uncomfortable. Switched the Turbo K over to the 14.5.

Rainy and cold…great day to shoot.👍

heck yes i did!
CanCon in Savannah Georgia
I fired all kinds of stuff (all suppressed). I now acknowledge that I pretty much NEED an mp5 clone, to get back into the AK game, and to buy a GOOD AR instead of building my own poverty tier stuff.
Oh, and Thunderbeast had a mk48 to play with and a ma friggin deuce.

Went to Woody’s today to try out new buffers in my Banshees, new light weight bolt in my 12.5 AR and break in my new 1301 and CZ 712 utility. Wound up liking the 6.6oz buffers in my PCCs, need to play with the buffer/spring combo in my 12.5 and my shoulder isn’t happy about the 100 rounds of double 00 buck shot thru each shotgun (but it was worth it)

I (65yo) took my son (35yo) shooting yesterday. He shot my P226 9MM SAO and P365, I shot my P226 40SW, P239 40SW, and HK 416 22lr. Son had a great time. Me, nope. As I get older. I realize my hands shake more than ever - difficult to hold a sight picture with the rifle or the pistols. Very discouraging - for a split second thought about getting rid of my firearms except HD/SD. Still good enough to protect me and mine - but very depressing.

did day 2 of cancon and the night shoot.
got to have a few shots on some night vision and thermals, dudes at surefire had us shoot some suppressed guns throwing beams of light 200 yards or so. shot 2 flurries of clays in the dark (field lit up with black light, clays all reactive paint)
Many of the dudes recognized me from day 1 (i guess i stand out or something) and demanded i shoot their stuff again. Like i'm gonna say no?

Went to friends place on Friday to test some loads in his 308 and my 6.5c. His gun likes the Berger 168, mine likes the Hornady 140.

Yesterday I went to my brothers place to shoot some along with my son. I took a couple of M1 carbines, a 1911, a P38, and a Nagant revolver. We also worked some on getting my Nephew’s AR sighted in.

Tomorrow I’m going take my son where we can shoot out to 300 yards with a few rifles.

Went out to VOD today to run some drills. First time using the new QVO OWB holster for the Staccato CS.

IMG_2066.jpeg

Need to get some reps in because I’m going to be using the CS (my carry gun) in any upcoming 2 Gun Competitions for the foreseeable future.

Super happy with the quality and fit of the holster. I have an IWB from them that is awesome so I figured I’d try their OWB.

At Battery Oaks, Sunday it dried out and we did some shooting, Billy put five rounds on steel at 1.87 seconds with my G26.
I did pretty good on the five pendant steel targets, (Not Timed) with my GP100 6" with .38spl rounds. Shot a few pistols in .22, 9 and .40 and 5.7.

@Jeppo asked how many firearms I had with me today, he guessed 19 and another member 23.
Here is the official count: 21 pistols plus two suppressors so 23 total. I like to bring stuff so others can try them.

Went to DPRC this morning with my son. He had expressed interest in shooting past 100 yards. I took my 20” AR 223, and Bergara 6.5c. We warmed up at 100 yards then switched to 300 yards, he was 10 for 10 on the steel plates at 300. I also took my Swiss K31 and we shot several rounds at 100 yards. We then went to a pistol range and shot the steel flippers with my Witness Stock II. We left and ate lunch on the way home. It was a good day.

Went to usual Calibers this past Saturday with cousin & another buddy. Borrowed my dad's Ruger SR9. And ran through 750 rds.
I also shot 250 through my dad's Ruger on Thursday to break it in.
Also rented a S&W revolver in 357 mag. That was a fun time to shoot. Makes me wanting a 44 mag wheel gun even more now.
Over all, had really fun day, and what better way of hanging out with military than at the range on Veteran's Day?

Took my P226 Mk25 out to check where the suppressor height sights were printing, and to get the Romeo 1 zeroed.
The irons printed right of POA, and slightly low, but nothing major. The Romeo on the other hand only stayed lit for two shots and then went KAPUT, only to return when when I'd drop the battery and reinstall it. It did it a second time so I replaced the battery with a brand new one, same result.......
I guess Sig will be getting a call or an email the first of the week.

Froze my tail off this morning confirming all my load and ladder testing was worth it.

IMG_3778.jpeg

I don’t shoot a lot off of bags/rests. It’s very boring and sort of difficult to get a usable sight picture with my prescription.

IMG_3779.jpeg

But, it was worth it to confirm. The RIA is a “good enough” bullseye gun with the factory barrel. Sub-1.5” center-to-center at 25 yards, all day, including flyers, off sandbags. Would be neat to get this into a Ransom Rest one day and see what it’s really capable of.

IMG_3780.jpeg

I’d put this RIA up against the current Colt Competition and Gold Cup models any day of the week. All it took was an another RIA’s worth of fire control parts, sights and sight cuts, and a new bushing…

Found some Zala brand mini slugs, so I ran a few -ok, maybe more than a few - through the H&R Topper 12g today.

IMG_20231125_104332301.jpg

They'll do! Only 25 yds, but had similar results at 35yds.
Zala Mini Slug 25 yds.jpg

The H&R likes .38 special, too! Pics didn't turn out, but I had 3" groups about 5-1/2" high at 35 yards, and can ring 100yd steel regularly if I do my part. The rear sight is missing the elevator slide, so it's kinda guessy and depends a bit on which glasses I'm wearing.

I was quite pleased this past Wednesday with confirmation of my new RIA shooting as well as I do with my FN509.
Fortunately @EvilRabbit joined me in his own test run on some guns his family owned.
Also, I'm curious what sites you're using?

Here’s the whole build:

- RIA GI 45 - Novak cut for front, Cerakote
- Kensight Compact Adjustable Rear
- Dawson .330 x .115” Patridge Front
- EGW Angle Bore Bushing
- C&S Videcki Trigger - Solid Long
- C&S Tactical Hammer and Ultramatch Disconnect
- C&S Sear Spring
- Chuck Warner True Radius Sear
- WC Thumb Safety, Grip Safety, and Slide Stop
- Herrett’s Stocks checkered rosewood grips
- Two-piece FLGR (I think pulled from a Springfield; needed for easy conversion kit use)
- Wolff springs (18.5# recoil, 19# mainspring)

I put a streamlight on my suppressed 22 AR.
this stupid meme gun is rapidly becoming one of the best outfitted guns i have.
shot a mag through it to see how it worked - but there's still no cure for bad 22 ammo.
hit a dud or failure to feed or something. charging handle didn't clear it. had to grip and rip the mag, reinsert and try again.
