Did You Go Shooting Today

Naw dude, that's good shooting. Looks like you anticipated on a few. You got this!
I got a new front sight on the glock from Novak. I left the rear factory. Turns out the front sight is higher than the factory was so everything was hitting low. I Def anticipated a bit but did much better. I should have took a pic of the last target once i had it figured out. I'm improving though, thankfully.

Went to an indoor range today since weather was crap. My Ruger 22mag enjoyed it. Thats 25 rounds of the cheapest bulk Federal 250rd tube of ammo that Cabelas had at 75 yards. For me to be pulling the trigger that’s good. I wish cheap bulk 22lr shot that good.

First match of 2024 is in the books. Indoor .22 bullseye at TSA. Shot a new personal best (856, finally getting into Master class scores). Finished rapid fire with back-to-back 99s, proof that the air pistol work (focusing on NPOA, stance, and grip) is paying off.

Started running the Marvel on my RIA lower—the trigger in that lower plays really well with the anatomic grips. The grips need a little tweaking to make life better (building up some index points with wood putty to mimic my air pistol grips). Looking forward to the upcoming season.

I had to head to the range today to pay my dues for 2024. While there I decided to shoot the 525-yard range with my 6.5 CM and my 18" 223 AR. I have not shot that range in close to 6 months. The 6.5 ammo that I shot is ammo that I loaded when I got my 6.5 about 3 years ago. There were some 123 and 140 grn loads. I forgot about the 123 grn bullets and could not figure out why my shots were high. Once I realized that I had 3 different weight bullets in the box, I finial got hits on target.
I had a tough time seeing 55 grn bullets hits on steel that has not been painted and really could not hear any hits. My main goal with these rounds was to see how the CCI Small Pistol Magnum primers would work. I could not see anything in the struck primers any different than the small rifle primers.

Took out the new Uberti 1873 cattleman in 22lr. Shot great. POI is good which is always a dice roll! Love that it holds 12 rounds. It looks and feels like an $1200 revolver but cost like 1/3 of that.

Only issue the empty cases were sticking and not wanting to eject. In fairness the cylinders were packed w oil, which I have now cleaned. hopefully they eject easier now. If not what’s the fix? Flex hone or polish the chambers?

Beautiful gun!

Me and my friend Charles and my little brother and his friend Danny all went to Salisbury Saturday and did our first competition. (Charles is well seasoned but first for the other 3) It was cold as hell and 20+ mph winds shooting 22lr at 100 and 200 yards at steel. It was a blast! Plan to do it next month too.

I believe a lot of the problems with 22s are due to dirty chambers. Straight-wall, no taper, thin brass - all it takes is just a little carbon crud on the chamber wall to cause extraction problems.

Beautiful revolver!! I find it interesting that the flutes on the cylinder and the size of the loading gate make it look like a six-shooter - completely hiding the fact that it holds 12 rounds.

Avoiding the below freezing temps with a little indoor 10m air pistol practice. I figure if I start practicing now, travel back in time 10 years, and practice consistently until now the second time around, I should be able to make the Paris games this summer.

Quick range trip over lunch, shot an old standby beside a newer pickup.

My old P10Cs have been shot like crazy but are still some of the best pistols ive ever owned. I mean look how my stomach wore away the anno on that rmr 🤣.

Sighted in a new EPS carry on my Masada Slim. I really like this optic and it’s my first enclosed out of the half dozen or so pistol dots I own.

Confirmed zero on two rifles and took my Beretta Christmas present for a test drive. Shot slugs, buckshot, light recoil buckshot, and game loads. It ate it all 👍🏻👍🏻

Where is the Masada hiding in this pic?

I picked up a G49 a couple of weeks ago and put a Holosun SCS on it. Took it out to Woody’s today a put a couple hundred rounds through it.

It was my first attempt with a pistol optic and it took a few magazines to get the hang of it. I was surprised that I preferred the circle and circle with dot much better than the dot by itself.

I’m not a total convert yet but it’s something new and fun. It would have been more fun if I had remembered to bring the sight adjustment tool. 🥴

Had some extra steel plates that have been sitting around for years. They were small 3” and a guy gave me 10 back in the day. I used 4 but they’re too small for most hanging applications. I shot in a 22 competition a few weeks back and had a blast knocking down little steel silhouettes so I decided to make a 22 only target stand. I have several that I just move around as needed so I added a flat shelf and a bullet diverter (angle iron) to the front of the shelf to preserve it some. I made the 6 little plates into silhouettes and made a place behind the stand upright to stack them when not shooting or when moving it around. My brother and a friend showed up 20 minutes after I sent them pics with their kids and we shot 22’s til it got too dark to see. Those little circles at 100 & 200 yards are fun!

A few weeks ago I helped a young friend of mine pick out his first gun. He wanted a shotgun for home defense, he ended up with a Rem 870 20ga. He had never shot a gun before, so yesterday I took him to DPRC to help get him started. We began with a quick course in gun safety. That actually started with a conversation on the way to the range as we were traveling together. Once there, I showed him how to load and cycle the gun using dummy rounds. Once he felt comfortable with that, we loaded up some bird shot and shot at paper 7 yds away. I wanted him to understand how the shot spreads at that distance. He did very well, having absorbed everything I had told him. I also let him shoot my Mossberg 500 12ga, I think he was glad he got a 20ga after that. I also brought along a couple of 9mm pistols that he shot, and did very well.

While we were there, I patterned a couple of loads, some #1 and #4 buckshot, from my 12ga 18” barrel, and the #1 from a rifled barrel. I believe a rifled barrel with buckshot may be useful inside 5 yds but almost useless beyond 7 yds.

Only shot air pistol today, but making sight picture and grip tweaks that are paying dividends. If I shot like this every day, I’d be headed to Paris later this year.

At TSA in Raleigh for .32ACP therapy, Beretta 81BB and my NIB Tomcat Inox that Beretta sent to replace the defective pistol that would not fire DA.
Both ran 100% without problems. 😃

Sounds like you need a gun bearer or two to help tote everything to and from 😜. Busted off a few with the AR and 226 and decided it was beer 30. Gonna relax out under the big oak tree and soak up some sun.

Finally put an irons rib back on the Springfield 1911. Also did some swapping between sears I had laying around to find the “best” one in the bunch.

After shooting nothing but air pistol and .22 all winter, I struggled quite a bit with the .45 and the 4 lb trigger. I was finally able to get a consistent trigger press dialed in during RF practice, but I kept flinching once every other mag.

IMG_4106.jpeg

B8s like these were the order of the day. All good, all good, a big wrist twitch during a trigger press, then back to normal.

About to, just finnished pre loading all the mags I could, AR, AK, Cetme, Sub2000, Keltec P17 and SKS ammo on stripper clips. Need stripper clips for the Mosin.
It went well, SKS, P17 both had 2 failures to feed, GF99 Turkey shotgun had one. We had a grand time. I had a visitor from Germany so it was quite the hoot for him.
