Flashlights

Some spots of the national forest we hunt take an hour or more to walk out of. Believe me it’s dark-dark when we get to the truck. And that’s if we’re empty handed. If we have to clean a deer and run to the truck or midway point for the cart all you can think about is the light dying. We use streamlight headlamps for walking in but they eat up aaa batteries. I hoping this nitecore does what I want. Ended up ordering it last night.
First time out to a stand my first year hunting I got off the road, across the ditch and a little ways into the woods. Overcast, 0400. Stumble and slip, drop my only flashlight. It lands on a root and the bulb breaks. So dark I can't tell if my eyes are open or closed.

Mini Maglite with spare bulb in the base. Changed it by touch.

Never went in the woods without 3 lights again.

Headlamp and 2 flashlights.

Those look interesting. May have to order one to test.

Got this nitecore picked out for public land walk outs after hunting.

Decent lumens, 21700 battery which equals awesome run time without the extra (unneeded) illumination.

Quick update on the Nitecore. Been perfect so far. The one watt setting is perfect for walking in (80+ hr run time on this setting) and gets plenty bright on the next 3 settings. I’ve carried it hunting for 2 weeks now and the first battery hasn’t even dropped below its 3.6v rating yet.

It compact and bright enough that I’m considering ordering another to mount on an AR with a pressure switch.

It doesn’t quite have the power to night hunt predators across a 300 yard field, but I didn’t buy it with that in mind. Just a mental note tossing the beam around while walking out.
