I’m listening to new firearms podcast, and they are shilling frog lube. I thought they were dead, that it’s just veggie oil.

The show is The Student of the Gun.Btw,
is "new firearms podcast" the name of the show?

Good lube for something else....I thought it was mostly coconut oil, which I certainly wouldn't use on a firearm.
That happens if you don't wipe of the excess. learned that the hard way.Never been impressed with Frog Lube. First time I encountered it on a range it was around 30* and that stuff caused the shooter all kinds of problems with FTF and FTE.

After that encounter I never entertained the idea of using it. It very well could have been his application process that caused the problems.I have only used Frog Lube a couple of times but we used a heat gun when applying it and I naver had a single issue with the stuff, it did make the slides of my G19 & G17 slick as gorilla snot and it shot well in all weather
Hmmm, never heard about that and I’ve been an M&P guy for a long time. I’ve also never read the manual 😂SEAL 1 was the original and I like it more.
The big impact to FrogLube was the Warranty void statement in the S&W M&P9 pistol manual.
Not sure if its still listed by name, but it was a impact.

We loved FL in the nuclear World because it came with No SDS sheet and did not need storage in a firebox.Hmmm, never heard about that and I’ve been an M&P guy for a long time. I’ve also never read the manual 😂
That said, I’ve had a great experience with Frog Lube on M&P slides, specifically restoring the light rust that can happen in the scales on the slide. Use an old hair dryer to heat the part, apply frog lube, let cool, and wipe off excess. It looks like new and last year.
However, I prefer plain old CLP or synthetic motor oil for my average lubrication needs. The process for frog lube isn’t worth it to me.

Heat gun 🤔, think I have one of those laying around somewhere. Tell me more about how you applied it using the heat gun.
He's the luber; the zerks are on the lubee.I saw a frog in the yard today. I caught it and checked… no Zerks. Hmmm, ymmv.
So not sure how this forum is but on other forums everybody knows a navy seal and this is one of those replies howeverit is true. The maid of honor at my wedding is my wifes best friend and is married to a guy that joined the navy after 9/11 and was on seal team six within one year. Has been an assaulter since he joined and still is. He gives me advice on guns and accessories. He doesnt use frog lube. Motor oil is your friend. I used frog lube when it came out and all it does is gum up your gun.
Some people will believe anythingI’m not sure if you’re being serious or not but You can’t possibly believe that is true…right??

Good stuff. Started using it back around 95 96 time frame if I recall. My wife saved me from the Frog Lube craze a decade ago by buying me an industrial sized tube of TW25b. I'll pass on the remnants of that tube to my heirs.
WD-40 has it's place, if you understand how it works and it's used correctly. It's magic is the molecular cohesion that not only drives out moisture, but gives it a high ability to "creep". Sometimes, I use it more as a solvent/cleaner than a lube. It just doesn't have a high load factor. Its funny, back in 2014-15 I used the hell out of FL and never once had any issues with it.
I will say, nowadays, I am back to my WD-40 habits. LOL

My standard for years and yes it last forever because I use it sparingly. I learned high percentage alcohol (91% or better) is a key tool to use with it. Strip off other old lubes with the alcohol before applying TW-25b. This allows metal contact with the lube. Otherwise, there may be interaction with old lubes. I experienced this once. Also, mixing TW-25 with alcohol will allow you to aerosol it if needed. My wife saved me from the Frog Lube craze a decade ago by buying me an industrial sized tube of TW25b. GrAvy 🦭 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣They were going to make me a Gravy Seal but they were too scared of me because my power level was about 9000 and I made a drill sergeant cry when I gave him a hard look.
