Fudd 101

While i disagree with the sign, I fully support the business owners right to post it. They have an absolute right, in my opinion, to dictate behavior and dress on their own property. I have an absolute right not to do business there if I don’t wish. No rights are being infringed here. You don’t have a “right” to eat there.

With that said, I also think it’s kinda a funny and ironic way to post against open carry. That restaurant is in my neck of the woods.

If anyone does not believe that they have any inherent rights then they have already subjugated themselves to whoever they see as being in charge.

As I have said in many a post, Freedom or Servitude is a choice.

Eeore there has chosen.

Ant your constant diatribe of burning it all down is turning the other cheek.

I challenge you to find a post of mine where I have advocated to "burn it all down."

That said, since you are a man who more loves "the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I'm seeing the word "believe" a lot. That's not proof.

Take your belief across any border and see what it gets you.

I believe we have the rights that we set out for ourselves as a nation for as long as we allow it. Until someone who is strong enough comes and takes them away.
No crap that word is in there a lot. You can’t exactly quantify rights. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve read on here today. So if I had just said I “have “ that right and not that I “believe I have it” then there is a magical difference? What rights do you have or believe you have? You gave an extremely vague answer to that question. You make it sound like just because something is outlawed then it’s not a right.

Prove me wrong.

While I “believe” I have a natural and God given right to defend my life:

Natural: because in no other place in nature does anything in the animal kingdom willingly sacrifice themselves to the violent whims of their predators. Therefore it is completely ingrained in our >nature< to defend ourselves.

And God Given: (and this is where the atheists can tune out) the Bible clearly states that we are created in God’s image, we have worth, and we should not sacrifice ourselves lightly. Any submission to violence should be in service of others, but never kneeling to the evil whims of others. Therefore it is divinely inspired in us to defend the creation of our creator.

So based on that it is both natural and God given that we defend ourselves and it is acceptable in both natural and supernatural realms. No one ever faults the deer for running from the wolves and no one would ever fault a holy man from defending himself from evil or evil intention.

So what is left then is the notion of “might makes right”, which is an expression of power, not “natural or God given rights”. A deer has the “right” to flee a pack of wolves, he may lack the ability, but has the right to do so.

The State or Society can decide I cannot use a firearm to defend my life, but that does not negate my “natural or God given right to self defense”. It may hurt my capability to do so. But it does nothing to the underlying truth that both nature and God have granted me both the desire and the freedom to defend myself, regardless of the strength of my foes or the handicaps society may attempt to inflict.

Well said

Even atheists should agree that one of the great things Christianity brought to the world was that each man has a spark of divinity/worth within. The basis of all men are equal. This was a new, revolutionary idea.

Prove me wrong.
Doesn’t that go both ways? You are the one that disagrees with my opinion first, so wouldn’t you be the one needing to prove me wrong? Please point out where I slandered you as well.

Nope, I made a statement, you jumped on it and said I'm wrong. Your burden to prove.

In the end you don't have to say anything to my statements but if you choose to contest you should have a better argument than to disparage my character.

Where, specifically, did he disparage your character?

I subscribe to the Heinlein belief that the only rights you actually have are the ones you are willing to die for. Nothing means anything without the willingness to sacrifice. The only liberty we have is the amount we are willing to take while damning the consequences.

OK, that's funny. Trump continues to win many political battles, yet he'll slander and lie about someone in a friggin' heartbeat.
That was the reason I couldn't vote for him.

So did you vote for Hillary?

You jumped on my statement first though saying that I was wrong. Still waiting for an answer on how I slandered you as well. I was trying to have an honest discussion, but if you are going to start calling me a liar and insist that I slandered you I’m out. Have a good rest of your day, sir.

What is the cham that was mentioned earlier?
The Cham, and the big brother "SUPER CHAM," are sandwiches at TJs Deli in WS
Ive not been to their places in a while, so I might be wrong, but IIRC it's a fried chicken sandwich with ham on top and hot sauce/wing sauce
I might be wrong though, as it's been about 2 years probably

Oh, and Ive ordered the Super before and it was a dang mess. I learned to stick with the regular CHAM and it was plenty and not as messy.
Messy as in falling apart, things sliding out of the sandwich due to being piled on too high etc

......that sounds like an awesome samich...... Thats how i like the carolina burger, enough stuff falling off the samich that you have to finish it with a fork.

Right on, except the one with wing sauce is a buffalo cham. Regular one has no sauce. I haven't been there in awhile either.

Only in our forum could a post about a fudd gunbuster sign turn into a debate about the definition of slander, the authenticity of Socrates' quotes, and whether God exists.

We will never relinquish control of the short bus. We own it and if you're gonna do something do it well is what I say.

I bet Socrates preceded CZ over Glock.
