My Glock 19 G5 is not an MOS, does anybody will a regular slide for the MOS system? I thought about getting another upper, but it just about a $100 more for a whole new gun.

I would not mill a slide for the MOS system unless you’re planning on using after market plates. The MOS system is not that great and there a more than a couple advantages to milling a slide for a specific footprint.

I was thinking that as new tech with red dots come along the footprint is going to change, I don't want to be locked to one size. I was looking at using the plate system.

That’s a good point but I don’t see rmr footprint going out style anytime soon.

Here's my thoughts after buying a G19MOS....

The MOS system's weakness is the minimal thread engagement due to the screw length... lots of validated reports of optics coming loose or flying off.

A plate system will never put the dot as low as a direct mill.

Direct mill can allow for use of standard height sights in a lower 1/3 configuration.

While there's not a industry standard screw pattern, RMR / Holosun seems to be wildly accepted.

If you are set on plates CHPWS, amongst others can mill a nonMOS slide to accept their plates, but not the other way.

If I had to do over again, I'd direct mill and skip the MOS.

Another option, just to throw it out to you, is to buy a slide from Brownells or the like, and build it for a swap, and can keep one stock.

Well, I already sent my OEM slides to be milled so there's no turning back. If you are ok with an aftermarket slide I would go that route, since it costs about the same as having your OEM slide milled and recoated. I'm NOT ok with an aftermarket slide on my duty guns so that's why I milled.
