Have you used goon tape before? I wrapped a bunch of mags with it and it left gnarly ass sticky shit all over my mags when I removed it. FYI.Since the real stuff seems to be out of stock every time I look, is there a good substitute out there?
And it sucks.
I thought the whole point of Goon Tape was to be non-residue! Oh well, I have plain old grip tape, just not in cool camo colors. 🤷♂️Have you used goon tape before? I wrapped a bunch of mags with it and it left gnarly ass sticky shit all over my mags when I removed it. FYI.

It’s semi worthless. I use it on metal GI mags to give some grip when pulling them out of Esstac pouches. But I have no idea why anyone thinks it provides more grip than a stippled polymer pistol grip. It’s soft and not grippy.Isn’t goon tape just hockey tape? Funny AF movies btw! Reason I ask is there is all types of it on Amazon. Never used it and my 2cents is worthless, just curious though.
You're not winding it on thick enough. But I have no idea why anyone thinks it provides more grip than a stippled polymer pistol grip. It’s soft and not grippy.
Guess I have commitment issues. It’s not the tape, it’s me.You're not winding it on thick enough.
16-17 layers & as you sweat on it, it'll shape to the form of your grip like an Estwing leather-handled hammer.
And then smell like something long dead wafting up from the edge of the swamp...
It's not so much for grip as it is to keep from rubbing your stomach raw from the frame when you're concealing without an undershirt. It’s semi worthless. It leaves more residue, trust me. As for carrying without an undershirt…..how many of you practice quick AIWB snatches without an undershirt? It's not so much for grip as it is to keep from rubbing your stomach raw from the frame when you're concealing without an undershirt.
It is slicker than the frame, but it is beneficial when your hands are greasy or wet. I use it on some stuff but not everything. It has its purpose...and no, it's not the same as hockey tape. It's less coarse and doesn't leave as much residue.

You shave your belly? Or are you a hairless cat? I can’t quick draw AIWB without pulling out 100 hairs without an undershirt.
Never had an issue with my T1 Axis. That happens with my JM Custom though. You shave your belly? Or are you a hairless cat? I can’t quick draw AIWB without pulling out 100 hairs without an undershirt.

Even Dollar Tree has coban type wrap. I always thought Mcnett's camo version would make a good scope wrap. Just hadn't gotten around to getting some.Tractor Supply or Ace may have it…called “Vet Wrap”. It’s a self-adhering bandage…Coflex, Coban…same stuff.
There’s a company that markets it in different camo patterns…best I can remember, I think it’s “McNett Camo Form”. I know Midway carries it.
There's my boy!!!!! Who let you out of The Pit?I goon everyday. Sometimes twice a day.
An old tube sock ensures there’s no residue.
Depending on where you are in Raleigh, you are welcome to wrap whatever with a roll of mine. I keep a couple on hand. Not sure where the residue comments are coming from, I’ve unwrapped a few Handguards and grips that have gotten hot without a residue issue.Since the real stuff seems to be out of stock every time I look, is there a good substitute out there?
Every magazine that I unwrapped had the sticky black shit you see on this mag (above the current tape).Depending on where you are in Raleigh, you are welcome to wrap whatever with a roll of mine. That’s kinda weird, any idea how long it was applied? Age shouldn’t matter but maybe the adhesive breaks down or soaks out over time, or reacts with the coating. I’ll unwrap my 365 later to see if it did the same to the plastic grip.Every magazine that I unwrapped had the sticky black shit you see on this mag (above the current tape).

Was on there for 6 months? Maybe it’s because the mags are rattle canned? That’s kinda weird, any idea how long it was applied?
