If you have an "ethnic" grocery nearby, take a peak & see if they have any peri-peri/piri-piri/pili-pili African hot sauce. Outstanding flavor & absolutely not lacking for heat.
*IF* you can find it, Valentina is the best hot sauce I've ever tasted, and I've tried just about all of them. Its comes in normal and extra hot. Both have a good, but not overpowering amount of heat, and a good, smokey serano chilli flavor. Try it, and you won't mess with any of the American brands again.
Best of all, since its a Mexican sauce, and not very big in the US, its dirt cheap. You can get a 1-liter bottle of it for 2-3 bucks at Walmart when its in stock.
I haven't been able to find it locally for about a year now (thanks Covid) So I order it on amazon by the gallon.
Best one I've tried recently:
Pay no attention to the price, it is a dollar something at the store. Basically it is a chipotle style sauce but made with habaneros not jalapenos. Flavor is superior and it retains the fruitiness of the habanero.
I got some of this. Very interesting stuff. Look forward to eating more of it.
I was hoping to find the black label Valentina, no luck.*IF* you can find it, Valentina is the best hot sauce I've ever tasted, and I've tried just about all of them. Based on this thread, I picked up a few different flavors of the Yucateco sauce. Been impreased with the two Ive triedso far. Good heat, good flavor.
While shopping for stuff unrelated several days after, I saw this one on the shelf and thought "Oh, yeah...here we go"
Turns out I was wrong.
Bad wrong.
Despite the promise the label showed...its from Jamaica...it is nothing more than Caribbean A-1.
I was expecting some kind of scotch bonnet scorcher sauce and I got A-1 with orange and mango in it. Its kinda funky for me, but my daughter likes it so it wont get wasted at least.

That is some good stuffI like the habanero sauces but LOVE any scotch Bonnett sauce.. local Walmart sells one a bit diluted but makes a bad ass barbecue sauce when mixed with mustard..
Before anyone knocks it, try it!! View attachment 437337

I use it more for the heat than flavor in different dishesTheir sauces are a nice flavor additive.
If you find a very flavorful Scotch Bonnet with heat, lemme know.
The Wally worlds carry the black, red, green and the hotter brown.I need to track down some of that black label Yucateca. The green is awesome, but they're all good. Never much cared for habaneros till a Mex buddy replaced the jalapenos in his guacamole with habaneros & also trying that Yucateca sauce. Never gonna sit around & munch on 'em (though I've done just that with pickled Reapers), but they certainly pair well with certain flavor profiles.

This is good as a chip dip on Frito's, but no bite to it.Based on this thread, I picked up a few different flavors of the Yucateco sauce. Been impreased with the two Ive triedso far. Good heat, good flavor.

I havent tried Tabasco chipotle, but have the scorpion sauce and it doesn’t taste at all like regular Tabasco does to me. Definitely hotter with more of a fruity note
Chipotle Tabasco has a really nice smoky scent and flavor, but it's not as hot as their regular Tabasco sauce.
Well worth dropping $4 on to try.
Their regular Tabasco is listed as 2,500 to 5,000 Scoville units. The Chipotle at 1,500 to 2,500.
If it's heat you want, this ain't it. But flavor is awesome. For heat you could add something else along with it, though.
I've tried their scotch bonnet sauce. It's ok, but i don't think I'd buy it again. Not real flavorful. They saw my habanero sauce, asked what it was, then brought their basket of sauces out. These were the two unknown to me I tried.
That's one of my favoritesA coworker gave me a this to try. He says he puts this ship on everything.
I tried 4-5 drops, Wow what a great flavor. Not very hot. Initial burst of flavor then a cayenne burn feel that settles nicely.

I’d love to have a version with less of what I assume is cayenne (acute spot heat), and more habanero (overall warmth). That's one of my favorites

I looked at the bottle and thought $Can‘t hide $! I was going to buy some of that once until I saw the price. Crazy.
Depending on what type of truffles - the cheap Chinese one run about $5.00 per oz - the ones from Burgundy about $25.00 per oz - and white Italians are around $200.00 per oz. - Going to have to try that one out!I looked at the bottle and thought $
I’m guessing it’s a combination of profit margin and truffles.
@dmarbell knows the guy that gave me the sample bottles. He’s an industrial mechanic like me, but his wife is a specialist Dr.

I found it at Costco.. it's like $15 for two bottles. Saw it in Whole Foods and it's $20 a bottle. I like it.. but not that much.
My man. For flavor that is the best IMO.

There are better ones if you want more heat but use that one a lot.
I use the sweet and spicy in Asian dishes.I got turned onto this stuff several years ago by my oldest brother. He buys this by the gallon and uses that to top off his smaller bottle. Cholula has a chipotle hot sauce, too, but it's not as good at Tabasco's in my opinion. @GoWolfpack is opposite...he prefers the Cholula Chipotle. Tabasco Chipotle on eggs for breakfast is fantastic!
I recently tried Tabasco Sweet & Spicy Sauce (found it at Walmart) and it's fantastic in its own way. I'm dying to make some wings sometime with this as the sauce. I've been using Pickapeppa Spicy Mango with Italian salad dressing on my salads for a while and I think this would work well on a salad in the same way.
