How long you been married?

I had no idea I was hanging out with so many old farts. Just 3 years here.

Yeah... there's a whole bunch of them been married longer than I've been alive, some substantially.

Regarding potential marital relationships, I think one thing young couples contemplating marriage don't realize is that very often this person who they feel is their soulmate actually thinks very differently than they do on a day to day basis.

I mean, just the way they view the world, and daily decisions. It may seem like they think just like you, and have all the same values, but I think that while many members of the opposite sex may have identical values to ours, they arrive at those mental destinations in a very different fashion.

I was a bachelor till I was 34. Over the years my little black book became quite the repository of names and phone numbers that represented relationships that simply were not to be.

That said, keep this in mind. As a general rule, men are often very compartmental in their thinking. Picture PO Boxes at the post office, or cubby holes in and old desk, whereas women tend to be very global in their thinking about life and everyday events.

Stretch your arms out wide, and draw a big circle in the air. This is the "globe" within which women think, and only God and the woman knows what's in there.

This is 100% correct. A man's mind is like a room full of boxes. Each box has it's own contents and we deal with each box one at a time. A woman's mind is like a big ball of copper wire. When you activate one part of it, the whole thing will light up and if you aren't careful, it will shock the hell out of you.

I was over at the Inlaw's the year after we were married and some of the family wanted to watch our wedding video to remember it all. Then we decided to watch my sister in law's video. Her kids were mortified when it came on in black and white. LOL.

Your analogy has just replaced the one I've told above for the past 28 years. Lol.
Hope you don't mind.

I can't take full credit.

My wife has been on a 37 year honeymoon as of this April.

We should take a poll, would be interesting.

At 27, I guess I am the outlier

There's more here your age than you think. Probably a good percentage are still single and haven't posted in this thread. I have a bunch of friends here in their late 20's, which is about as far as my level of maturity ever advanced 30+ years ago.

:p

lol I hear ya. you should never take life to serious, I try to be pretty laid back. Key word being try.

Now if I can convince the mrs to move a little further from the "city" I'll be one happy camper

26 this June...where did that time go?

Never been married. Been committed to my girlfriend for 12 years now. After 8 she wanted to come back home to NC for school and a career change. I decided I was sick of the politics and ratrace of my beloved California was lost and I wanted a change.

So we came here. She's an incredible human being and better than I deserve by a long shot. She makes me a better man, and this move was the best thing I could have ever happened to me. So I am very thankful and very very happy.

I'm never going back. Y'all are stuck with me, my tie dye T-shirts, and my patchouli oil!

5 years, then about 5 years to another, see a pattern here? So decided marriage may not be the best thing for me. Have been with the same girl for 18 years now. Guess it is not your typical relationship, but works for us. Every once in a while we talk about marriage, but both of us are scared it will ruin it for us.

If you start wearing patchouli and tie-dye, we're not hanging out anymore...

End of May, I think the 29th ( yes both the wife and I get it confused as it's either the 29th or 25th) will make year number 7 for my wife and I. September 19th will make year 8 being together.,

19 years married, coming up on 24 years together. We both had not so good previous marriages and have learned to appreciate what "good" really is.
