Hurricane Irma

Yea, good luck eating those shoes or drinking them when you are without food/water and want both.

I just need to get my fingers away from the keyboard wrt looters.

Nah...go on and preach; it'll be alright.

No fart jokes...

I saw this picture of a house in Florida on another forum. I like the sign.

To get back on track. . .

Getting some good rain with the occasional 40mph gusts here in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Fire department is slammed with downed trees and powerless. Looking at the tide gauge, our high tide is about 5ft higher than normal which is causing some issues in lower places. Had one confirmed tornado touch down in North Charleston. As I am typing this, wind is picking up again.

Getting back off track... I couldn't believe this comment on the Mark Dice tweet, trying to justify the looting...

You're right, something destroying and killing everything is not a reason to look for resources to keep you warm and safe for the day.

Seriously??
o_O

But seriously, as I sit here in a Wally World parking lot, seeing the wind gust and waves of rain, I realize it is but a shadow of what of what others have endured down further south. I haven't see the reports from the Keys or west FL yet.

Everyone should be happy. We prepped for this storm and it didn't happen. We should be ready then for the next one.
Yep. Good practice for everyone not seriously affected. It has taught me that I do not have enough fuel storage capability or comms ability even though Zello is cool.

Getting some good winds and rain here in the mountains. No power.
Blew my grapevine down! Bastids!

We've been getting generators returned at Home Depot, don't count on getting a bargain on one there any time soon, as soon as they come in Florida evacuees are grabbing them at full price to take back to Florida.

Power just back on last night. We were out for a couple days, but power stayed on in town.
Internet down too.
Two big ass oak trees fell across the main transmission lines coming up the mountain. You know, the kind of trees that laugh at a 20" blade. Duke really had the work crews out. Props.
I took my chainsaw and cleared my road. There's trees and branches all over the place. The Billy Graham Center in Black Mountain had 28 trees come down. One of them fell on one of the cabins the girl campers stay in, crushed the roof and just missed one girl inside by inches. Not as much electrical damage as could be, but we'll be busy there for a-bit.
I heard Franklin Graham on the Sean Hannity show yesterday. He was asking for assistance for folks in Florida and the Islands, but never asked for any help at his place in Black Mountain. I like Franklin, and he's gun friendly too.

Met a guy in Wally World from FL. He lived 10 miles from the gulf and his house was spared. Two friend's weren't.
He was headed back down and looking for gas cans.

Flood waters are threatening to close I-75 just north of Gainesville. That would be huge for returning residents. Uggh. I was hearing last night at work that it was already closed but I can't confirm it through normal net searches.

Anyone have any information on what is left of the Keys? Have a trip planned with Key West being one of the destinations in 3 weeks.

Edit: Finally finding information on them. 25% of homes destroyed.

I had trip planned for Edisto Beach SC and Hunting Island SC. We got notification last night that cancelled all reservations till December 31.

Hmmm. Guess I need to call. We have reservations in the next month at Myrtle Beach State Park.
