wow, what a storm.
As far a here in the Triad, the kids were out of school yesterday (Thursday), but we had an optional workday. I always do workdays because they are just too easy. Well we lost power at the school at about 11:30, they wouldnt 'let us' leave till 2. I took a long lunch. Was nothing that could be done at work with no power or internet.
Ok, so last nigh they announce around 7pm that there was a 2 hour delay.
At 6am they called it off for students, but, again, optional day. So I roll in at 7:40 and STILL NO POWER.
I hung around for about 90 minutes and left. We were told that we could go to central office and work, but the county maintenance guys had already told us that that area had a lot of trees and lines down. No thanks.
I hope my brothers on here were safe and their homes didnt get (much) damage.
I know for those in northern Davidson County there was a lot of trees and lines down.
I got home yesterday at about 2:45, by 3 the power kicked off. When I left at 6:45 this morning I still didnt have power.
Most backroads had at least one flooded bit in them (ie: Midway School Road, in the curve at Ridge, 3/4 of the road was under water at one point).
No damage to my home (no flooding, not sure about siding, didnt see any damage on sides as I left today), but no power for 15+ hours sucks. I hope that I dont lose too much food.
