I've been reading thru threads and pestering the guys at Poppies but we seem to be gettin further out in the weeds. So here we go with another tedious post..
..Since ~06 I've been luggin around an old SWR Omega-turned-Specwar.. I'm ready to pull the trigger on a coupla smaller and lighter cans for current usage and trying to avoid lurching into this haphazardly. It takes a long time and it's a PITA so we wanna put some effort into doing it right from the git-go. Price is not a deciding factor but we don't really care about bling for bling's sake. SilencerCo did us very right on the Omega/Specwar so I'd like to stick with them if I can. But not to the point of shootin myself in the foot over it. If it matters I do reload for these.
..We're fairly convinced we wanna set up a "traditional" trust as both of us are pushin 60 and have no relatives to speak of. The property, vehicles and such are all already set up to go into a trust. The NFA/firearms trust will be a separate entity as we'll eventually hafta name someone unrelated as a beneficiary.
Any thoughts on this beside the obvious "Yeah, name me the beneficiary"? š
Cans-
Definitely a rimfire. My d'ruthers are size, weight and first round quiet as this will be used mostly for hunting. So toted more than shot. The only current host is a
22/45 Lite but I'd like the option to use it on a small-ish rifle or PCC type. No interest in rapid fire if it matters. Saw a "Scoundrel" yesterday and that was very acceptable size/weight wise. Dunno bout any other characteristics of it, tho'.
9mm/45ACP & 45C- Curious if there's an effective single unit for these with the same d'ruthers. I've read that some of you don't care for the can on handguns and I can see that would be cumbersome along with needing extra parts. While there's a coupla suppressor ready FN's around (FNXt & 509cT) I'd mainly like it for a PCC and/or a future SBR. The 45C is the lil Rossi lever that I run subs in anyways. It would be schweet if that could be made to work with a can.
Thanks much for any useful and/or entertaining input. I'm sure there's some "famous last words" in there somewhere. š¤ š
