If this is impractical, I get it. So file this under "suggestions", not complaints.

I'm sure most of you realize North Carolina is a ridiculously long state East to West. I read once that if you use the far Eastern point of the Outer Banks as a turning point and rotated the state southward, the Western (now Southern) tip would be well down into Florida.

As such, more than half of the for sale listings have little-or-no practical value to me (or anyone out my way). Who is gonna drive 6 hours for some bullets?

People in Wilmington, NC are sifting through dozens of ads from Lenoir and Hickory and Franklin. Folks out there are sifting through ads from New Bern and Wilmington or even the Outer Banks.

What are the chances of splitting up the classifieds into Eastern and Western NC? And much like we have a NC/SC tab, we could have a ENC/WNC tab for people in Raleigh or somewhere in the middle?

Yeah, I get it. Too picky. It's a great site. But I figured I could try.

How about people just put their Town/City, State in their ad and we'd all know where the items is.

Where are these "Franklin" deals?? There is never anything east of aville? Where did I miss thosešŸ˜ÆšŸ˜‰

I personally think that's too difficult to divide in a general sense. Even into thirds Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal. Still leaves a huge percentage in the middle.
I've traveled East of statesville to make deals before from bst. But it maybe doable.

Personally I've pined for a location spot in the ad title like the NC/SC thing. Just a box someone can click to their city or general "willing to meet" radius.

Make it alot quicker to browse when you don't need to scour the whole ad to see where someone actually is selling an item.

Just a thought.

Oh it is usually in the body of the ad. Worst case it's in tue profile of the person who posted it.

What I'm trying to avoid is even clicking on dozens of ads that mean nothing to me as soon as I figure out where the seller is. And I can't remember all of the ones I have clicked already so I wind up clicking a lot of them multiple times.

Again, I know I'm being picky. But it would be great if we could separate Hatteras from Hickory. Because nobody from one will ever by from the other.... unless they own a jet.

That's basically what I'm hoping for too. But I get that it would he tricky for anyone near any of the "borders".

Use CFF Express for shipping.

Also, it's a great way to see the state!
Agreed, our CFF Express really makes the location an moot point anymore. See something you want but it's 3 hours away? Put the word out and it will be shuttled and relayed to you toot suite.

I put my town in the thread title anytime I have something for sail/cell/sell that canā€™t be easily shipped.

This absolutely would solve this issue, only folks wonā€™t do it for whatever reason.

Totally get it, hitting that back button is so annoying...

Not so. I've hopped on my motorcycle and gone from Charlotte to Durham to buy a pistol.

I see your (attempt at) humor/sarcasm. But....

Clicking on ad after ad only to find out the vast majority of them are in Charlotte and the Triad is a bit time consuming.

Still, love the site. Just bouncing stuff around to see if anyone else saw a need.

It's been that way for more than 15 years across several forums. Doubt it'll change now.

You can't imagine how many reports we get now of listing not in the correct place. Just imagine how that would end up

This state is difficult to break up because if you did it geographically, youā€™d split right in major metros. If you did it by major metro, youā€™d end up leaving out some highly populated areas.

It sounds like what the OP wants is a radius search feature.

However, Iā€™d just love to see people list their location in the thread or their profile vs having to ask all the time.

I've traveled 80 miles to do a face to face deal. I followed a severe thunderstorm up I85 all the way into Charlotte.

I bought a Colt pistol from a SC resident that had to go through a FFL.

The one thing that this forum does right is police the BST board. You welch on a deal and you're history. One and done.

The pony express that is runs by members is a labor of love that these people have for this place and the membership. My testament is they delivered a dog from Apex NC to Forest City.

It may take a few days to get it to you but it will be delivered. FedEx, UPS, USPS can't touch on that.

Down around Lumberton way ainā€™t it? šŸ˜Ž
No, that's the Succubus.

Speakin of buses, the Express doesn't make it up here to Hill Country as often as some of us hillbillies might like... :)

But I'll put some miles on the ol Mule sometimes, for a deal and/or to meet a CFFer.

Oh! Thanks for the correction! I need all the help I can get!

As an aside, was bored.
Currituck NC -> Wolf Creek NC = 560 miles, 9 hr, 6 min
Wolf Creek, NC -> Tampa FL = 565 miles, 8 hr, 23min

You know, twice at CPCC, I was offered Xanax. After the second time, I was offended. Why do you look at me, and think, "Yeah, he needs a Xanax?" At least offer me some marching powder once, make me feel all butch and exotic.

Not gonna buy it, but it's the thought that counts.

I was working at the airport and a passenger stopped and asked me where the smoking area was. Told him I didnā€™t know. He said ā€œoh well you look like a smokerā€

THANKS.

Don't feel bad. The year after I graduated HS I went back to my old hometown to visit my sister. I was walking through the parking lot of the post office and two elderly ladies approached me and asked my help. They had locked their keys in their car and said they thought I looked like I knew how to break into a car. To be fair, my hair was a bit long and unruly back then. I did help them but made it a point to tell them it was my first time. It is entirely their fault I turned to a life of crime.

Now about that CFF Express, would it be too much trouble to add a package tracking feature?

My vote is for keeping it all together. If a deal is good enough, I'll drive a couple hours to get it.
