I'm just going to float this out there.

So why are they special?

.
If you drive past Spartanburg, down 85, then into Greenville on 385 and see Paris Mountain just north of town, and the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond, you’ll know. I’ve stopped on the side of I385 with traffic whizzing by just to watch the sunset.

I hear ya. To me, a resident of the outskirts of Charlotte, it feels like the bulk of the deals are in the Triad. Maybe that's just me.
I agree.
Every time I see something I'm interested in it's three and and a half hours or more away.

But Charlotte and Shelby are compensating by having Uptowns.
Just got done lecturing a young employee about how it is DOWNtown Charlotte. Refuse to buy the Chamber of Commerce crap.

Of course, she just stared blankly at me like I was one of those wacky Capitol protestors.

I was working at the airport and a passenger stopped and asked me where the smoking area was.
Last 5 rows of seats on the plane. Same as it's always been.
If you want more privacy go into the plane's bathroom, blow the smoke in the sink exhaust and puff out Garth.
At the terminal, any elevator will do. If you can't find an elevator, start a fire and stand nearby where your smoke will blend in.

I remember when shopping at the department stores, Belk’s and Iveys, meant going downtown.

The chamber of commerce types have some of the media using the term "center city" which makes me laugh when I hear it because it comes across as "Sinner City".

I was in Pickens, just yesterday, as it tried to snow.

;)

Center of Pickens County here. I'm glad someone else saw that. Nobody believed me.

In completely unrelated news, I have been known to embellish a bit just to make a story more entertaining.

It’s an unwritten rule of the forum. If you’re telling a story here, and you read it back to yourself and it’s either not funny and/or it’s boring, fix it.

Southern Prepper 1 had a get together in the park, by the Wendy's, yesterday. I'm in Saluda right now and it looks like they've had some snowfall in the last few days.

Was it a CFF meet up? How did I miss that? I would have been there if I had known.

No. SouthernPrepper1 is a well known preparedness guy from U-tube. He was one of the consultants on Doomsday Preppers. We were discussing the current situation and what actions to take. It was not exactly a widely publicized meeting. I've known him for a few years.
