About two weeks ago I was paying for lunch at a local Mexican eatery. I was waiting in line behind two 50 to 60 year old women who had a 14” tall bulldog who was severely obese wearing a winter coat, scarf, and had a blanket draped over it. The dog came to legs and was snorting liquid from it’s ugly face while bouncing around my feet. It was on a leash as well.

Karen: “He just wants to see if he likes you.”
Blackgun: “ Well tell him I don’t like him snorting on me and being in a restaurant while I dine.”

Nothing. Crickets. She left and the 2 women lifted the fat pig into the car and I left in the work truck.
I get home to pick up some parts for the next hvac customer. I get a call from Karen.

Karen: “ Did you have someone at the taco place about 1 o’clock today.”
Blackgun: “ I think I did.”
Karen: “ Well he was rude. He cussed me and he was really drunk.”
Blackgun: “ No kidding.”
Karen: “ Yeah, he was mean to my dog.”
Blackgun: You’re a liar Karen. That person was me. I did not cuss you nor had I drank anything. Do you think I’m going to fire myself, Karen. Listen, nobody wants your mutt where they eat, and snorting on their legs.
Karen: “ Well that’s my service dog and needs to go everywhere with me.”
Blackgun: “ Bullshit. Service dogs are for service men who put themselves in harms way and it helps them cope with PTSD, or for the blind.” But you women took it from soldiers so you can tote your animals around because you can’t get a man.”
Karen: (full blast sobbing) “My husband died 3 years ago and I need my dog.”
Blackgun: “ No Karen, you need to get mental health counseling.”

Karen hung up on me, I exposed the BS lies to get a boss to fire an employee. Only problem was I was the boss and employee. I’m not going to play soft either. THE END

Just so I can love this again!

Fantastic! Well done sir! I hope that's the end of it.

I once had a shreiking Karen get me kicked out of a hotel just because I had ignored her as she threw a tantrum. They have vivid imaginations and don't know when to stop.

Me to. Great story😂

That's sad. Not that you did it, I would have, too. But that she called and pushed the snowball down the hill, and that she's that kind of person.

I have zero issues with service dogs, but I can smell the bullshit when people tell me their Chihuahua or $2,000 Husky is a service dog.

Blackgun: “ No Karen, you need to get mental health counseling.”

The advice you gave her, hopefully, rang true in her head for a while, and again, with hope, she acted upon it.

Her 'friends' might accommodate her sadness and depression, but you were a true friend that she never knew she had.
Being honest with people who have problems like this might sting at first. Later, though, it is the best medicine.

I noticed that Publix has taken a stand against that crap. There’s a sign as soon as you walk in the door that says it must be a medically necessary assistance dog or something like that. No wet blanket dogs.

I was in the Hickory Sam’s Club in early 2023 where a very, very large woman was riding in an electric cart holding the leash of 3 huge dogs. Going down the produce aisle 2 of the dogs dropped 8 puddles of liquified poop. She was aware and left it. She had a man with her also. Neither cleaned it up.

A lady with a little girl walked into one puddle and almost fell. Then one of the dogs put his paws up on the grape section as she was getting a container of strawberries. I paid, told the assistant manager. Her reaction was anger and she went to look.

My kids work at a chik-fil-a, a few months ago my wife and I were eating there after dropping a kid of an a couple Latinos came in with a husky. The shift supe asked them if it was a service dog, they said no, he said the dog has to go. So they left.

Everyone 'knows' what a service dog is because of the way it acts.

I work at Harris Teeter and it shocks me that we let people walk in with their dogs simply due to the fact that any urine or shat could seemingly contaminate the produce. Or just the liability of "I was bit by a dog in your store that you let them bring in" lawsuits. 99% of animals that come in are not trained service dogs so I'm sure it happens. Especially the tiny yippy dogs that tend to nip at kids when they get in their face(which kids tend to do). I'm gonna look up incident reports when I go in tomorrow just to see if I can find one lol.

Yep. I go in the one near us at least once a week and that sign is clearly posted.

Plus, service dogs don’t approach others. And they may have a vest on asking people not to pet them or identifying them as a service dog or dog in training…but they don’t wear scarves and vests.

Had this old idiot at my Home Depot, his unleashed poodle could barely walk, had cataracts in both eyes and was peeing on the floor, said it was his service dog, OK fine but clean up the mess, two Hispanic men started to give me a hard time, told them not their business.
We don't question the service dog claim but they need to have it leashed and clean up the mess.

If you question it, you will inevitably run into somebody screaming about the ADA and threatening to sue.
A lot of people self diagnose and order a wishdotcom service vest.

I thought service dogs had to be registered as such and properly identified before they were allowed in restaurants. Good story though and good on you for calling her out.
Nope, but in times like these you wish they were. There are certifications but no law requiring them except on air planes, I’m pretty sure.
You can go buy a service dog vest on Amazon and viola, you have a service dog!

Whahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! That’s funny right there!

Freaking liars and drama queens

Nomi never pees or poops in stores, and only goes inta Home Depot, Lowes Home Improvement and Tractor Supply. People love her in all of those stores and she loves them back. I think it helps a lot that she is on a leash, well behaved and beautiful. Nomi is not a service dog, and never will be. I think I need emotional support, but Nomi thinks I am here for her emotional support!

...can't find a photo just now.

Service animals and emotional support animals (ESAs) are different with different laws....dogs and miniature horses are the only two recognized Service Animals they have to trained to perform specific tasks to help people with disabilities. ESAs provide emotional support and comfort, not tasks.

NC GS 168-4.5 actually specifies that it is against the law to disguise a animal as a service animal for the purposes of bringing it into prohibited locations. They are supposed to be registered with NC HHS, and issued registration tag.

Most people or places just don't bother because it's not worth the battle to deal with some screaming Karen who wants to bring her emotional support chinchilla into Sheetz.

Add Academy to the list, and that’s about all the places mine goes.

That’s pretty much our experience with Daisy, who thankfully behaves on a leash. Almost everyone, especially kids wants to pet her and I’ve only seen her shy away from one person.

When she was a puppy, I did take her into my office building and she crapped on the floor in the lunchroom.

I've no problem with non-food stores. Any store that sells (in the food area) or serves food I have said something.
Most dogs are probably cleaner and more sanitary than most people.

Unhappy customers lie about their interactions with staff all the time, nothing about this story surprises me.

I don’t mind dogs in stores, even grocery stores, but the owner must accept full responsibility for their animal, it’s actions and any byproducts.

The worst is now "emotional support dogs" on airplanes.

I salute you sir!

Is this the most "likes" a post has every gotten here? Because it should be.

My Ruby is the same way, for the first little bit after I got her she had a couple nervous craps in places she shouldn't.
She usually ends up so packed with treats after a trip to tractor supply I worry she might crap in my truck on the way home. If she shied away from someone I'd make a polite getaway.

The couple people I know who have actual service dogs (1 has for seizures/similar events) cannot stand the 'emotional support' animal people as it reflects poorly on their animals, who are behaved better than most people in the restaurants (definitely better than the Karen). They tend to eat with their dogs outside the restaurant anyways if it is available. Usually quick grocery store runs, etc they dogs stay in the car.
