Kel Tec SUB 2000

Does it take glock mags?
Use factory glock mags.
Profit.

Feed it good quality brass case, clean it when it needs cleaning... the folding barrel makes punching the bore effortless.

Other then that, shoot and enjoy.
I have 2 brands of aftermarket 33 round sticks that ran just fine so far, the only issue I had was with steel cased ammo.

Do you guys have seen issues with steel cased ammo?

I've only run steel case through mine, had no idea it was against the rules. No drama at all, except when using knock-off mags. They generally suck, no issues with the real glock 33s (but I only load to 30) or my G17/34 mags.

KelTec stuff generally looks off straight from the factory! I'm surprised they don't stipple them.

(I like KT stuff, but they OGLY!)

...thats what I typically hear, zero problems with steel case and factory mags. :)

With the price of factory glock 9mm mags, I'd just typically stick with them.... not that an aftermarket mag has to be bad or anything.

Well some of the aftermarket mags go for around 15 bucks, that's hard to beat.

Definitely hard to beat the price on some of the ETS mags…

I actually have 2 of their 33 rounders so far they have been fine. These prices are just insane, that was part of the reason why I wanted the version that takes Glock mags.

Looking for more input from your fellow owners here:

- how often do you clean it?
- must have add ons and things to stay away from?
- ammo yours likes or does not?
- any other tips and tricks for running this thing?
- best reliable mags you have found?
I got spend happy on the MCarbo website not long after I got mine and installed almost every part, and it was worth it for me. You can see the difference in quality while replacing everything. It is all very easy to do while following videos. I didn't polish anything though.

I have 2 of the Magpul glock magazines that I use for a more compact package and both have run flawlessly.

I think I am going to try and make the nighttime run and gun this year so I plan on using the sub 2000 for that. So it is easy to carry I added a cheap UTG QD attachment to the bottom rail so I can have a sling on it.

I have used Remington UMC and Fiochi ammo in mine with no issues.

I will say the front site post was loose on mine when I got it. I am thinking about just taking the front site post off and putting the thread protector on it that Kel-Tec sells and running a red dot on some kind of mount. If you look online the front site post becoming loose seems to be one of the more prevalent issues from what I can find.

I have accumulated about 1.4K rounds through mine at this point, I still love that thing. A few observations:

- have not cleaned it since I first got it and lubed it up, I am spraying some oil into the action each range session
- 100% reliable so far, no issues at all
- all brass ammo, various makes, many commercial reloads, no issues
- no issues with various aftermarket hi cap sticks, but because of cost we usually load 10 rounds each only
- all mags drop free
- have not done anything competitive with it, just range blasting
- factory sights are too low, have a red dot on mine and keep it unfolded, the folding feature is not a big deal for me since I already schlepp lots of rifle bags each session one more does not matter
- recoil is a bit more than you'd expect from a 9mm but no big deal

Would I buy it again? Absolutely.

I love my sub2k gen 2 with all the mcarbo parts that makes it a realistic tool and not just the range toy it is from factory. Of course after swapping so many parts there's more invested then I could ever even imagine getting out of it. I shoot mine quite a bit and then it gets folded back up and in a backpack it stays. Part of BOB setup. I've had different optics on it over the years but allways go back to the irons. 20230929_153249.jpg

I have the G17 version but need a G19 one to utilize the lion’s share of the mags I have.
Is the G19 grip module still available or am I destined to break out the Dremel?IMG_1183.png

Wish I would have waited for Gen3. I keep mine in the trunk of my car. Have an RDS on a QD mount.

I’ve got the mcarbo metal feed ramp to replace the plastic one but just haven’t had time to polish and install it.

Just wait for the factory one to break?
