Iāve been meaning to write this for a while. My pals and I rabbit hunted on Feb. 10 and drank a couple beers afterwards. I came home and goofed off in my shop while guzzling down about 8 to 10 more. I didnāt drink any beer Sunday or Monday, and Tuesday, the 13th, I read this thread. Iām not Catholic, but my wife and I are members and regularly attend a Presbyterian Church. Iāve always heard of Lent, but never knew what the true definition was, so I googled it and read up about it. I felt convicted to participate, so I have not had a beer or any alcohol since February the 10th.
I would not say Iām an alcoholic, but I have no problem drinking 24 to 36 beers a week, plus drinking while we eat out. I will say Iām feeling a nice clarity about things, but I can tell Iām eating more, I think, to replace all the calories in the beer. Iām honestly not struggling to stay the course and wondering if Iāll resume the consumption of āthe nectar of lifeā come April. More than likely I will once the weather warms up, but weāll see. Iāve learned itās not a necessity and it sure as hell makes the tab cheaper eating out. While I know this is a more healthy choice, I solely chose to participate for a religious reason, even though Iām not Catholic. Hopefully Iām still allowed to participate. š
