Let's drop the weight challenge

I am about to start another 10 day smashing greens challenge. Part of it you have to be within 5lbs of the end of the 1st one....my short story goes like this was right around 230ish did the 19 day dropped to 210/11ish last April stayed right around 210-215 then in October fractured c4-c7 and some other stuff. 220 came back fairly quick setting around doing nothing for a few months....had surgery in April and am about 80% with my right shoulder. Started replacing lunch with the greens from masf and went from 221 on Monday to 214.7 Wed. morning. Have been trying to stay around that mark for a few days before starting the fast. Plan is to start Monday and get under 200 in 10 days....then the hard part maintain it.

Didn't we talk about this before??

I did a week of Smashin' Greens meal replacement, not a full-on fast, and lost 8 pounds in 5 days, a little over a year ago. Tastes like drinking mown grass but I wasn't hungry and worked.

We did....they have reds now....I mix the greens with the vanilla protein powder and some srevia....after day 5 I went to straight greens once a day

So I finally couldn’t deal anymore and in April I had gastric bypass.
Nothing was working anymore. I was completely stalled and felt terrible.
Day of surgery (4-11-2022) I was 372
Current weight 251
Total weight lost on my journey since 2019- 204#
If anyone has any questions about the surgery feel free to ask I’m an open book about it. The more people I can help the better.
I don’t have diabetes or sleep apnea anymore. I feel great, my joints don’t hurt as much as they used to. I’m more flexible. I can exercise better. I definitely don’t eat like shit! 😂 lol lots of good stuff!

I have been weighing in daily which I shouldn't..... Friday is the official weigh in day. Today I was at 173.3 #'s. It's been a while since I have been that low. I would like to see 170 and I'm happy there if I can maintain. My lowest in my post marriage adult life is 167 #.

There's nothing wrong with weighing in daily. Just be consistent about it.

Made it to 225 or so from 290’s. As I mentioned upstream I didn’t weigh when I started because I thought my wife would give up and I could go back to eating whatever I wanted quickly.

We have now gone to having a “cheat day” on Sundays.

If you weigh daily it makes it harder to see a trend and you can get frustrated because you don’t see weight dropping, I learned typically to weigh every 3-5 days if you want to see different numbers

Everyone is different but I weigh daily, first thing in the morning. Lets me track how eating yesterday is working. But I'm not looking to loose anymore. Just making sure I keep doing what I'm doing. I'd say my weight fluctuates in about a 5 lb range through the week. I eat well on my days off, larger dinners especially. And tighten things back up on work days.

If you are going for weight loss you can get a “stalled” feeling or feel like you’ve plateaued at a certain weight if you weigh every day. Not everyone does but it happens
Right now Im fluctuating between 251 and 255, I want to say it’s water weight lol 😆

Gym several times a week, last week only 3 though.
Trying. Not weighing as much and, because Ive been to three different locations/gyms since joining, I dont really 'trust' the scales to each other. But it feels good to work out, always leave feeling great! And sweaty.

Since my surgery I weighed myself twice a week through May, and once a week since. We have an old-fashioned analog scale, and an electronic scale. There is usually a 3-4# difference, so I weigh on each and take the average. The hospital scales tend to correlate more to my electronic scale.

I started trying to get down to the same weight when I ended the last smashing greens challenge to start the next one. I replaced one meal with greens/reds went from 223ish to 215 in 4 days.....decided to just stay replacing one meal.

Early on in my weight loss, I was... obsessing?? about it a little, which I think is normal. So started weighing in weekly. Now it doesn't bother me if I seemingly gain a pound overnight.

I couldn't get past 175, it took seemingly forever.... Then I finally noticed that I could hit my last belt hole but still over 175, a few days later I dropped below and have been there ever since. Those last few pounds are tough to lose and extremely easy to gain back.

Is say it's a personal thing, then.

I weight nearly daily, but the only weight that counts for tracking weight loss is Friday morning's weight.

Weighing daily is an education, not necessarily weight loss tracking. It teaches you things like consistency and things that can cause minor fluctuations in weight, up and down.

It can also motivate you. There's nothing like seeing that 1 pound loss early in the week, because it helps motivate you to keep that pound off the rest of the week.

But to each his own.

I’ve had a few weeks like that, here’s my chart, it’s a rough view of my weight loss since surgery , you’ll notice some weeks that took longer to lose more than others

So I’ve been at 205ish for a few months, now I am cutting out energy drinks and cokes. Sugar I’m taking in with regular cokes and what ever is in sugar free monsters is being cut.

Aiming for 185, so around 20lbs. Exercise and what not hasn’t been happening, but getting the kettlebells back out and starting over.

Cutting those will get you results. Remember, losing weight is in the kitchen; getting fit is in the gym (or wherever).

Absolutely!

The general guideline of about 2,000 calories a day actually varies from person to person, but it's a good gauge to put things into perspective.

As an example, @MadMardigan mentioned cutting out regular Coke. A single 12 ounce can of regular Coke is 140 calories. a 20 ounce bottle is 240 calories. A 16 ounce bottle of Monster is 200 calories.

It doesn't take a math genius to see that even a single bottle of Coke or Monster can make up 10% or more of the average person's daily calorie requirements. Two, of course, means 20% and much more means a person is rapidly approaching 50% or greater.

It's so easy to take in excessive calories just on these types of drinks alone.

Just signed up for a 5k. Never done anything like this before. It's an educational one, money goes to fund scholarships etc. And you get a free tee for signing up before Sept 16. So another shirt to add to collection!
Oct 1!

I went to a Duke facility for my stitch removal and follow up today. Those Duke scales are off I tell ya. My guess they are a good 10 lbs high. 🤨

I am supposed to run a 5K on Sunday. I have chemo today. I won't know until Sunday if I am running it or watching my kids run it.

Hope you feel well enough to knock it out. But don’t put yourself in more danger if you don’t need to.

My better half is not particularly thrilled about me running it. My plan is to stay with my youngest daughter (11) so it would be combination of jog and walk anyway. We'll see. She wants one of my sons to run it in my place and me just watch.

I hope you feel well enough, if you need anything let us know.

Thank you very much, I appreciate that.

I know you plan on crushing this thing like Hulk, but we all have our limits. Don’t make it any harder than it already is. Your wife might be right. 😬

Been on a gym kick past 6 weeks and I’m at the point thst im starting to not dread going. 6h time this week.

Once I am into a schedule regimen I really enjoying it.

I am trending up, a bit, by a couple pounds. With chemo lethargy/fatigue, today was my first day in over a week with a 'hard' workout, but it felt good. I might have to sleep all day, but I got it done.

We'll, I did it. I was utterly exhausted for the rest of the day and I think I slept 13 hours that night. In hindsight not my best move.

I felt the same last weekend. After not doing anything for a few weeks I spent about 3 hours detailing the truck and then went and did a 3 mile ruck. It crushed me. Didn‘t take long to lose some conditioning. Hope to complete a 6 miler later today. We shall see.

Did back and shoulders yesterday and I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck.

Positive note is I just bought some new protein powder and man it’s actually delicious.

Didn’t want to hit the gym this morning and needed a little pick me up. Had a scoop of preworkout and now I’m here.

Man, some of you guys sound like you are 100 years old.

What if I feel 100??

I used to tell people that my age is averaged; I feel 85 but act 15.

I was going to work out but slept in to 0640 instead. I have 2-3 rest days a week, so I am just having today as one of them.

Some days I feel like I've fell downstairs and others not so much. Just depends on how heavy I lift at the gym :D
