I'm curious about lubricants for BCGs and other moving parts. I currently use RemOil because that's what I typically have available. I went into the hardware store the other day and saw CRC Heavy Duty Silicone lubricant as well as CRC white lithium grease. Anyone ever lube up with either of these?

I use Slip2000 EWL lube and Slip2000 725 cleaner, with fantastic results, the EWL is a little heavier than their standard “gun lube” and it seems to adhere to the parts better, they have an even heavier lube which I haven’t tried.

I found that once you use the lube a few times and get a few heat cycles with it, the parts seem to be slicker and most of the fouling just wipes away, if I neglect the guns and shoot 1-2k before I clean, I use the 725 cleaner and the carbon nearly melts off the parts.

A buddy of mine uses their “Carbon Killer” on his suppressors, if you have shot suppressed you know the bcg & cans end up with baked on carbon that is a pain in the ass to clean and normally requires a bunch of scraping and picking to get all the crud off, he buys the gallon bottles and soaks the parts over night in the Carbon Killer and he pretty much just uses a nylon brush on the parts the next morning because 99% of the crud melts off.

Slip2000 EWG on most parts and EWL on rotating parts and .22s.

Personally, grease is cheap enough, I'd just pay a little extra, and get the best.

Aeroshell 33 MS, which most people consider a gold standard for grease on guns. Can get a 6oz tube for about $20. Cut it open, scrape it into tupperware, you've got decades of grease.

My wife bought me a huge tube of TW-25B Milcomm grease. It's supposed to be used in machine guns for the military, so it's probably good enough for a semi-auto. I've been using that on anything that calls for grease, and AR type bolts, for like a decade already. So far so good.
I also use EEZOX. That stuff stinks up the house, but it seems effective on pistols, and makes cleaning a breeze. I keep a bottle of FP-10 in my range bags. If anything acts up at the range because it got way too muddy, wet, whatever, it's there so I can clean and lube as necessary...but it hasn't happened yet.

Found a small size on Amazon. I'll give this one a try. Thanks!

Ive found the Lucas branded "gun oils" are actually pretty good stuff. Not alot of strong smell, and it stays where I put it for the most part.

Balistol is good stuff.... has a unique scent though. Some find it off-putting, and it is Noticeable if on a carry gun.

ATF isnt a bad choice either. But it too has a scent that is notable.

Rem oil always seems so thin, and evaporates pretty quick.... atleast to me. I dont use it unless its all I have and im not relying on it longterm.

As for grease, Heck, moly grease out of a grease gun tube works really well for alot.

But, If I could find more Gunslick grease, that stuff is a favorite. Just dont use it on aluminum. Easily my favorite legit "Gun grease".... does leave a heck of stain on light colored clothes though.

Mobil 1 on bcgs, etc. Anything that needs a thinner lube. Slide glide on rails, etc.

Lol.... FIRECLEAN.
I thought that was generic Frog Lube.

Oh, wait... Maybe this was generic Frog Lube...

I've been a TW-25B fan for years as well. I use it on everything, but very sparingly with a thin coat. Try using 91%+ alcohol to clean surfaces of other lube before applying. I had an interaction with residual from another lube once. You can also dilute it with the alcohol. It's basically a PTFE suspension. I prep new barrels with it too.

What kinda interaction?

It gummed up. I had applied it to a gun that had other lube still on it. I cleaned it all out with 91% alcohol and re-lubed with TW-25B and it hasn't been a problem since. I have also noticed that some lubes will gum up after the carrier goes away. Like a gun in the safe that doesn't get shot much. FP-10 used to be bad for that. TW-25B doesn't do that. Actually, over time the parts will stay fairly slick, as it deposits PTFE.

LSA gun oil is fantastic in AR type BCG's. It is just about the perfect lubricant for AR15s. It was made for full auto M14's if I'm not mistaken. But it is just a lubricant, and not a CLP.
Here's a link....this stuff lasts forever

White lithium grease works great, but will be a carbon magnet. It will lubricate, but when you finally have to clean, you will be cleaning for days.

I love Weapon Shield, And Ballistol. The Lucas CLP is pretty dang good as well.
Another that I use is LPS #1. If you ever use a sonic cleaner, use LPS #1 afterwards, as it will push water out if cracks and crevices. They use this on airplanes

For your viewing pleasure, in case you wondered what to use on your MK19.

...personally, I have been using CLP since 84, occasionally LSA...Castrol used to make it, now I think the contract is with a Canadian company (of all places).

I always thought Hot Lips earned her moniker through an activity that didn't require lube. Who would have thought she was the expert on that too!

I've been using Corrosion X for years as a CLP and been happy with it, along with foaming bore cleaner to remove copper when necessary.

I like Corrosion X, and the Lucas products, for most things. But for the BCG in my AR, I like Strike Hold. It seems to do a good job lubricating and protecting, but does not attract carbon and dirt like other lubes.

Anybody use Sta-Bil gun CLP? Just happened to come across on Amazon and got to wondering if any good or not.
