It was totally unexpected. A gift from my future father in-law. Best gift ever.I need gifts too!✔️😪
Congratulations!
Thanks so much for the info. I hope to learn all about it. Is there a way to identify which theatre it serves in?Congratulations on the rifle, looks like a good clean shooter.
From what I can tell it is a December 1943 production so fairly likely to have seen service in WW2.
Looks like barrel was replaced at some point (very common) and the rear sight upgraded to the late style (also very common).
Considering it is 80 years old a checkout by someone in the know would be a good idea, but from what I see it is in decent shape.
Many people prefer to use 30-06 ammo specifically manufactured for the M1 which is loaded to mil spec velocities and “harder primers”.
I am not aware of any resource that has the serial numbers detailed down to unit level (although I wish there was). Thanks so much for the info. I hope to learn all about it. Is there a way to identify which theatre it serves in?
I’ve heard that. What ammo do I need to buy? The gun club I belong to does M1 Garand 3 position competitions and I want to try that.watch the ammo you put through her most modern ammo is to hot and will put her in a early grave
CMP still sells new creedmore m2 ammo that's good for it. greek surplus is getting expensiver. hornady makes 30-06 specific for garand loads too.I’ve heard that. What ammo do I need to buy? The gun club I belong to does M1 Garand 3 position competitions and I want to try that.
